Well…. This is a very interesting bunch of songs, can’t really say I like any of them (maybe other than 2/3)🙈

Gonna have to force myself to a second listen before I rate. Sorry to this man 🤣

1. Damien Rice *Best* This may be the best of the 36 songs sent over all categories wub - Worried it's been played a little early but a fantastic start nonetheless.

2. Calvin Harris

3. Darin

4. Tom Grennan

5. Sam Fender

6. Lewis Capaldi

7. Sam Smith

8. Roosevelt

9. Gary Newman

10. Mackenzy Mackay

11. Bladee

12. HRVY

01 Sam Smith - Diamonds (as I said, probably his best so an easy number one for me)

02 Darin - Lovekiller (Scandi gold, very obviously right up my street - MURDERER!)

03 Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit) (again, one of his best that’s aged very well and definitely one of the best with his vocals on it!)

04 HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego (think I already knew this and definitely think it’s good enough to warrant him seeing another round!)

05 Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait (his voice does grate sometimes but this is one of his better moments, I think I generally just got over him after era 1 where everything continued to stay the same but he was cranking out some good’uns at this point)

06 Roosevelt - Luna (great discovery, excited to see what more this artist has to come)

07 Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For (another voice that irritates me with a song that I associate with every restaurant or retail job I’ve ever had, but it is quite catchy - hope we’ll see Gillette (The Best A Man Can Get) later down the line xo)

08 Sam Fender - Chin Up (I don’t actually know much Sam so looking forward to learning more as I doubt he’s going anywhere soon - don’t love this but it’s dece!)

09 Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life (actually never even heard of this artist, was pleasantly surprised by it cos the same gave me the impression it was gonna be country)

10 Damien Rice - 9 Crimes (didn’t do a great deal for me at all sadly)

11 Gary Numan - We Are Glass (I only know Cars by him which I actually love but found his voice a bit annoying on this)

12 Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission) (I actually know and like some Bladee but this is not it, and feels almost intentionally picked to wind people up 😂 I know there’s plenty of good stuff if he stays though!)

Not the beeeest list - cant help but ponder how Eric would’ve fared this time round kink

01 HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego · I'm not usually massively into twinkpop but I've always had a soft spot for HRVY's music, he's delivered some seriously under-rated bops, of which this certainly is one - although it's by no means the best!

02 Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For · I still love this as much as I did when I first heard it, such a strong song! And tbh I don't think he's ever made anything quite as good as this since!

03 Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit) · This is up there with the best of Calvin's bangerz. And perhaps contrary to popular opinion, I quite like his voice!

04 Darin - Lovekiller · Never heard of him but wow this is a nice discovery, really enjoyed this!

05 Sam Smith - Diamonds · They can be a bit hit and miss for me but this is a genuinely good song.

06 Sam Fender - Chin Up · This Sam is also a bit hit and miss for me (maybe it's something about Sams) but I do like this song, always thought it was one of the album highlights.

07 Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait · I must admit, I don't mind a bit of LewCap. He has stronger songs than this one though, which I look forward to.

08 Roosevelt - Luna · Another new name to me and I quite liked it, nice production in particular.

09 Damien Rice - 9 Crimes · I'm never been a big fan of his (the obvious single aside) but this wasn't too bad.

10 Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life · This sounded a bit Tom Grennan-y but not quite as good. I'm intrigued to hear more from him in future rounds though.

11 Gary Numan - We Are Glass · Sadly this didn't do too much for me.

12 Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission) · This feels like a joke pick? A thousand apologies if it's not!

  1. Darin - Lovekiller

  2. Calvin Harris - Feel So Close

  3. Sam Fender - Chin Up

  4. Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

  5. Roosevelt - Luna

  6. Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life

  7. Tom Grennan - Found What I’ve Been Looking For

  8. Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

  9. Sam Smith - Diamonds

  10. Gary Newman - We Are Glass

  11. HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego

  12. Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission)

Darin, Calvin and Sam’s I really like.

Lewis, Roosevelt, Mackenzy and Toms all listenable.

Damien and Sam’s ok but a bit boring.

Gary, HRVY and Bladees entries not for me at all!

Sam Smith (favourite)

Sam Fender

Calvin Harris

Roosevelt

Tom Grennan

Gary Numan

Darin

Lewis Capaldi

Mackenzy Mackay

Damien Rice

Bladee

HRVY (least favourite)

1 Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

2 Gary Numan - We Are Glass

3 Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit)

4 Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

5 Sam Fender - Chin Up

6 Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For

7 Roosevelt - Luna

8 HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego

9 Sam Smith - Diamonds

10 Darin - Lovekiller

11 Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life

12 Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission)

Great discovery from Damien Rice here. This is Tom Grennan's best song I've heard. Haven't rated much from HRVY in the past, but a Poundland 'Despacito' - sure, why not. Didn't get much from the bottom 3 - I've pointed at least one of the Bladee entries in BJSC, but this was just too much of an odd one for me.

Time to do the boys...

01 Damien Rice - 9 Crimes - there's so much clear water between this and the others for me. I still listen to loads of songs from his 3 albums and if the mentor plays it right then I could very easily vote him top every time <3

02 Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For - surprising myself here as I wouldn't say I liked Tom at all, but I really liked the vibe of this.

03 Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit) - One of his best imo

04 Roosevelt - Luna - I'd forgotten that Roosevelt existed before he popped up here but I did quite enjoy his material and this is a fun and summer breezy kinda track

05 Gary Numan - We Are Glass - Decent opener for Gary, one of his strongest songs that I already know

06 Sam Smith - Diamonds - I've never been the biggest fan of Sam's music but this was a decent one from them

07 Sam Fender - Chin Up - I don't know that many songs of his, in fact probably only the bigger singles. This sounded kinda like I would have expected but it was decent enough

08 Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait - I've never really liked his music tbh but this one is okay.

09 HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego - Not really something I'd ever choose to listen to but again it was okay for what it was

10 Darin - Lovekiller - This started off quite well as the video began, but then he started singing and it got worse. Lyrically I just found it really tacky. I did quite like the production value though so there's potential for me to like some of his other stuff.

11 Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life - Sadly this was one of those songs that I forget as soon as it's over - sorry!

12 Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission) - I was so disappointed by this as I don't usually mind Bladee! But this was just a very unusual choice, I'm sad that I'm having to put him last!

  1. Roosevelt - Luna

  2. Darin - Lovekiller

  3. Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

  4. HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego

  5. Gary Numan - We Are Glass

  6. Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit)

  7. Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission)

  8. Sam Fender - Chin Up

  9. Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For

  10. Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life

  11. Sam Smith - Diamonds

  12. Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

had heard a couple of the others a couple times but only really knew Lovekiller and Feels So Close before, loved Luna and I do love Lovekiller, of the Darin tracks I know I think it's the strongest and one of the better male Scandipop songs I know just because of its dramatics, great ones from Damien, HRVY and Gary Numan too.

1st - Gary Numan - We Are Glass A song I know well and one of his best singles

2nd - Damien Rice - 9 Crimes Agree with what others have said about this song and I'll overlook it having a female vocalist, hopefully his remaining songs for each round will be solo efforts

3rd - Calvin Harris - Feel So Close I like that recurring two note groove

4th - Sam Fender - Chin Up The best of the rest, there isn't anything else now that I liked

5th - Roosevelt - Luna

6th - Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

7th - Sam Smith - Diamonds

8th - Harvey & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego

9th - Darin - Lovekiller A shame this isn't Bobby Darin

10th - Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For

11th - Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life

12th - Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission)

@King Rollo I suspect you’ll find Lisa Hannigan cropping up on a few more Damien Rice entries as she plays quite a fundamental part on a lot of his early material.

They worked so wonderfully together that, musically at least, it’s a shame they went their separate ways.

  1. Darin - Lovekiller

  2. Calvin Harris - Feel So Close (Radio Edit)

  3. Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait

  4. Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For

  5. Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

  6. Mackenzy Mackay - Want You For Life

  7. Sam Fender - Chin Up

  8. Sam Smith - Diamonds

  9. Gary Numan - We Are Glass

  10. Roosevelt - Luna

  11. HRVY & Malú Trevejo - Hasta Luego

  12. Bladee - Cartier’god Icedancer (Intermission)
