I blame X Factor for this. If they hadn't have started all this England vs Wales vs Scotland thing, then whoever won wouldn't have got the backing from the opposing country's as proven

This goes to show, just because you've got a #1 record, it don't neccesarily mean your overall career or single/album in question is a sucsess when you consider the artists/reality show's profile.

Look at Steve Brookstein- #1 single and album, but he's the laughing stock of reality TV winners.

Shayne to me is the most outstanding talent. I have travelled all over the world and been to concerts everywhere and seeing him at Wembley this year, I was amazed at how talented he is. He has the whole package, the voice, the looks and the dancing ability and he holds the audience in the palm of his hand. It was the best concert I have ever been to. You should be proud he is British instead of carping about him. Truly, his album is the most delightful album. It has something for everyone. After listening to his album and then Celine Dion, which was so dreary, I was delighted to get back to some wonderful music. I heard him sing acapello at the Children´s Hero award and people were crying it was so good. To compare him to the others is laughable. He sold 800,000 the first week and 1.3 million total. (yes I checked) He was certified platinum the first week of his new album. I cannot wait to see him live at his next tour which I have booked for and will fly out to see and music is my passion. I am not a teenager but a mature music lover, trained in opera. So thank heavens he has so many fans who really appreciate him.

Are you in the wrong thread? The topic is Sunday Chart predictions, not Shayne Ward :D

Ha Leon will only sell around 200k.

How on earth do you work that one out? It's sold 135k in its first two days of physical sales, you seriously think it's only going to do 29k in the next two?

Mikey you cheeky bugger

Jszmiles: put it this way you are lucky you are Polish, or at least not British

He won X factor, a fairly bad most of the time reality tv show that steals the xmas number 1 spot. Out of the 4 one has shown proper talent (Leona), the other 3 aren't awful but aren't great either

I am replying to this post and that is why I am in this thread. Like it or not. I am just letting you know that Shayne is GREAT. In another league in fact.

With the advent of the X Factor ... and the inevitability of its song becoming number one at Christmas (however cruddy it is) I've had a thought ... which I'm sure most of you think also. Hasn't the number 2 at Christmas become the new number 1? I mean when Leon makes it to number 1 - we all know its only there for the novelty - so we should all congratulate whoever is number 2 for being the actual number 1 at Christmas. Does that make sense? And no! I've not done a Vic Vega and got plastered before I made this post!

PS - A Very Special Merry Christmas to You Mikey

And while I'm at it ... may I ask a question - are TT still near the top ten in the album chart?

It was stated earlier in the thread that barring the 1st days pshyical sales there was no more midweek news for Leona

Very true.

For the record....

At the end of the same first week sales period (with the Physical single only available on the Wednesday after the final)....

2005 Shayne Ward - That's My Goal had sold 742,180

2006 Leona Lewis - A Moment Like This had sold 571,992

It is very clear that Leon Jackson will get nowhere near those totals by Sunday's chart. Especially when you consider that X-Factor 4 was the most watched final in the history of X-Factor...

He'll do very well to sell 300,000 by the end of Saturday.

Personally, I'd like the UK charts to adopt what the Irish charts did in the 1980s with regards Charity singles and count the X-Factor winner as #0 on Sunday's chart countdown....

Mind you personally, I think it's got more than a whiff of #2 about it....

It is nonsense though the X Factor single being number one. I mean - we all used to laugh at the fact that Cliff Richard was inevitably going to be number one every time he released a single at Christmas (which he nearly always did) but at least he had competition on physicals so you could say that the old guy deserved it. Go into Asda and Tesco's and the X Factor (for the past few years) has been the ONLY single they have on sale - and usually strategically placed at the check-out. Bring back Cliff is what I say!

(IMO) He has the intelligence and personality of a peanut, is utterly full of himself, has a gratingly irritating voice and minimal songwriting ability. It is essentially his producer's and writers who are talented, the one's who sculpt his sound and image. Having a six-pack and being able to sing half-decently do-not compensate for a complete lack of charisma or genuine "talent", though compared to this years X-factor winner... Ok no I won't. That's just my opinion, but anyway.

Mikey, how much had Leona sold at this point last year? It would be funny to compare the two

No official figures. But using my spreadsheet and extrapolating from her final sales by the Sunday, I'd say her sales up to and including Thursday(friday update) last year would have been approx 300-350K.

I'm so glad its not selling greatly, although its number 1.

hes gonna flop for certain after the first album.

you mean within a few singles. if he disappears like Leona to work on his album, no one will care when he comes back, lol!

Fingers crossed!!!, he'll be a music industry flop! (hopefully).
