Ugh how are Nickelback #1 with that awful song?

Because people can sing along to it, I know this as my next door neighbours party played it continuously along with Valerie, all through saturday night.

We can hope that the Valentine's Day helps Basshunter or Adele to get to the top spot, stopping Nikelback and that awful vonitting song :(

You poor thing...

That sounds like hell...

I hope you called the police.. alerting them to the rowdy people with bad taste..

Jeez...how terrible. Glad I don't listen to the radio any more - I haven't even heard Basshunter or Nickelback (save for a few seconds here and there) and will keep it that way.

Are Pete and the Pirates close to the top 40 or nowhere to be found? I thought this single would do well given that it's like a more intelligent version of The Fratellis...or has it not been picked up by Whiley or Bowman yet?

For everyone who thinks Nickelback will have the worst number 1 ever..........do you not remember Leon Jackson?

And lets be fair we haven't had a single decent number 1 throughout 2008. it seems its already shaping up to be one of the naffest years in music to date.

IS PARAMORE A REISSUE?

Yes. Misery Buisness got #30 last year, and i thought that was good, but this is great :cheer: , espescially when i thought that everyone had heard it first time round. Although it probably won't stay top 10, and probably end up low top 20

To be fair, we have only had 1 new number 1 this year - Basshunter, which is a dance track and not everyone's cup of tea. The first couple of months are often very slow, so I think it is far too early to write off 2008 yet. I think Nickelback will be number 1 this week, but don't rule out a 6th week for Basshunter as his sales seem to improve in comparison to the other tracks as the week goes on.

Give it a few weeks and I am sure there will be some exciting new releases reaching the top echelons of the chart.

Eugh @ Nickelback. I don't think they will stay #01 though, Basshunter's physicals will increase or Duffy will rise to #01 with ''Mercy'' seeing at how fast she's rising on the iTunes download chart.

Great for GA, they shouldnt drop too much this week too much :)

People, don't forget there are pics of their NEW video in their foum :P

I much prefer Nickelback to Basshunter though.

I was actually singing along.

Is Blackout still at the top 30? Thanks:)

I am glad to see David Jordan is at the top 20, he's got a really good album.

Can't believe Scream is at the top 30, the song is just BAD!

Nickelback setting up to become chart-topping Rockstars

13:01 | Tuesday February 12, 2008

By Paul Williams

Nickelback are vying to make UK chart history this Sunday be taking the longest time to reach number one during a single chart run.

The band’s Roadrunner-issued track Rockstar is presently ahead of the Hard2Beat/MoS single Now You’re Gone by Basshunter featuring DJ Mental Theos. If Rockstar does end up at number one on Sunday it would have happened during its 18th week on the singles chart, beating the previous record set by Celine Dion’s Think Twice, which took 14 weeks after charting to reach number one in February 1995.

Nickelback and Basshunter are set to be joined in the Top 10 by the lead-off singles of new albums by The Feeling and Goldfrapp. Island-signed The Feeling’s I Thought It Was Over will move from its position last week of 12, while Mute act Goldfrapp’s A&E is poised for a double-digit climb.

Meanwhile, American band Paramore, signed to the Fueled by Ramen label, appear certainties to become the Top 40’s highest new arrivals with Misery Business challenging for a Top 10 place. It was placed 57th on this past weekend’s new chart.

Other Top 40 entries will be few and far between but are likely to include Yael Naim, The Coral, Simple Plan and Duffy.

Exactly a quarter of a century after the original version occupied a place in the UK Top 10, the 25th anniversary edition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller is on course this Sunday to debut in the top five. The Sony BMG album is expected to be joined in the Top 10 by Started A Fire, the debut album by Vertigo/Mercury act One Night Only, and the Decca-released Greatest Hits by Morrissey.

Above them all, Roadrunner’s Nickelback will be pushing for a chart-topping double as All The Right Reasons aims to overturn Brushfire/Island’s Jack Johnson album Sleep Through The Static at the top.

The chart’s big climbers will include Mercury act David Jordan’s Set The Mood, which is picking up sales as the single Sun Goes Down is on course to consolidate its top-five position.
