i thought automatic were gonna flop big time but their doing fine :D

Automatic and The Verve should do well next week with their album releases, they will have the Reading/Leeds effect, Verve will easily bag the #1 album next week.

Duffy is very likely to flop with Stepping Stone. It all depends on the lead single for her next album and if that's successful the followup to it. If both are successful she could be here to stay :D

But would 'Stepping Stone' really be counted as a flop if it reached #36 for example after coming from a hugely successful album?

I wouldn't count it as a flop in my opinion, Warwick Avenue was a great follow up.

But credit has to go to Rihanna who has been very consistant over the past 2 years having 7 hits from one album, and it shows you can also have a top 5 hit on downloads only, which paints an awful picture for the physical market, as physical singles are difficult to find these days.

Yes but Rihanna's album hasn't sold as much as Duffy's. And her two last hits are taken from a new edition of the album, so not lots of people have it on the album :)

80-1=????? :P

I think Biffy Clyro will well and truly f*** up my Top 10 prediction thing :heehee:

WOW what a dead Week :manson:

Where is everyone? Have they discovered something called a 'Life'? :o What on earth is that when its at home :heehee:

Gabriella has a slim chance of going top 30 with 'Save The Lies' at this rate, she has not moved since yesterday, that's what you get when 'Sweet About Me' has climbed back up.

that was my fault :kink: I bought the CD single of Sweet About Me on Monday, because it's the first time I'd ever seen it

but I bought Save The Lies too!

I'm so pleased for Biffy Clyro - looks like they might get their first top 10.

About bloody time too!

the automatic single is lower than you'd think becuase their label f***ed up and it wasn't available for download till tuesday night.

it was #13 on the itunes chart after only being on there for a day so think they'll keep climbing up the chart till sunday..........

Maybe people are just losing interest in this thing devoid of any excitement or surprise we call the chart.

I barely post in this thread anymore...I used to post in it 10-20 times a week...I can think of hardly anything to write in my chart commentary this week :(

Maybe it's also due to the fact there are no interesting releases at the mo, I'm sure it will get a bit more interesting by the end of the yeah ^_^

I can't believe that the label did this. When did you find this out or is ti common knowledge? Sorry I'm new!

I hope they get top 10. Apparently they are sitting at number 1 on the physical releases, and they are number 11 on the Itunes singles chart (if you take Oasis out as they are not eligable) then they must be top 10...right???

yeah, shocking isn't it! they've posted it in a few blogs this week and i'm friends with friends of the band.. was just reading the thread here and thought i should set a facts out for you fine folk :)

I wonder when whether we will ever get these decent charts back again :(

I think the charts will remain as they are now tbh! Record companies are holding back longer and longer between releases because the former single is doing so well but on the other hand I like the fact that if it is truly popular enough then a single is able to still be in the charts 6+ months after it has been released and can climb from its initial debut something which never happened a few years ago!, I am sure I am not the only one that has found chart runs by the likes of Nickelback and others fascinating?!
