Posted September 13, 200816 yr So we've discussed Suprise no.1's but what about suprise hits that you never expected to do so well :o Lazytown Nov 06  Kid Rock - All Summer Long - It went to number 1 but to his prevoius hits in the UK which were low top 40 or elsewhere i never thought i'd see him doing so well. Ting tings - Thats Not My Name - Never expected them to have a no.1 hit let alone top 5 even Cascada - Everytime We Touch - Never thought i'd see them go top 5 and what a climb from the week before. I immediately liked and first listened to it just 5 days before it was released how weird and it was on the first day of the summer holidays as well :o Can't think of any more right now but if anyone else would like to share then do so :D Edited September 14, 200816 yr by Mart!n
September 13, 200816 yr sandi thom i was i was a punk rocker  big suprise Edited September 13, 200816 yr by Sprock~Dude
September 13, 200816 yr hmm... Mickey Modelle vs. Jessy - Dancing In The Dark went top ten in a period where no songs with that sound ever went top ten in mid 2006...surprised me anyway!
September 13, 200816 yr Author David Hassellhoff another one top 3 in 2006 with a great cheesy pop song :D
September 13, 200816 yr I couldn't believe it when Herd & Fitz's 'Just Can't Get Enough' got to number 11, a retro piano-heavy dance track with a Kelly Llorenna-like vocal yet coming out as late as 2005. All the other hits at the time were of the looped 80s sample house style (Call On Me, Out of Touch, Falling Stars, etc) which by this time I was really sick of. And that brief era with all those electro hits as well, the bassline garage of its day really. I remember hearing tracks like 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit', 'Yeah Yeah', and 'Exceeder' in summer 06 and thinking there's no way they'd be hits here, and all of them got into the top 3!
September 14, 200816 yr Recent ones: - Faves - - The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved = I was so surprised when i saw this FLY up iTunes :w00t: - Eric Prydz - Call On Me = I loved this but I didn't think it would reach Top 20 let alone Number 1 :o Least Faves - - Madcon - Beggin' = I never liked this song at all and was baffled as to why it did/doing so well :puke: - Kid Rock - All Summer Long = I used to like this song but it got boring very quick. I thought it would get Top 30 but that's it! And i'm quite surprised no-one has said 'Rockstar' actually :o Although i knew it had Top 10 written all over it, I really didn't think it would last as long as it had! :o

Ting tings - Thats Not My Name - Never expected them to have a no.1 hit let alone top 5 even you couldnt see how well these were gonna do...kid rock had been massive in other markets and was picking up loads of airplay here....and ting tings had so much good hype behind them as well as the radio one advert...which also helped gnarls
September 14, 200816 yr J Majik & Wickaman - Crazy World (got very low top 40 but i was extremely surprised it even made this)
September 14, 200816 yr Deffinatly Kid Rock. We don't take any notice of him for about 20 years, and finally he releases 'All Summer Long' and it's a big hit (and it isn't even that good. ) Strange!
September 14, 200816 yr That Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy track that finally knocked Bleeding Love off #1.
September 14, 200816 yr Yeah agreed with Crazy World, no video or CD release and it gets top 40 :o Katie/Eva also a shock. I was quite surprised when Noah & The Whale got top 10 last month too, it sounds like absolutely nothing else in chart, and is a summery sounding track released during a month when it just rained every day...
September 14, 200816 yr "Left Outside Alone" for sure. I expected top 20, never would have dreamt it would spend months in the top 5.
September 14, 200816 yr Oh yes, Anastacia is definatly another one, no way was i expecting to be as huge as it was.
September 14, 200816 yr Feeder- "Buck Rogers"- After ten single releases and two EP's alongside two albums, it looked like this band would be destined to stay as a top 30 singles act with blink-or-you-might-miss-it top ten albums, and low billings on the Reading/Leeds main stages. All of a sudden they launched this supposedly daft rock song which shockingly infected the Radio 1 A-list (I love the song, but was expecting another number 20-30 hit and a B-listing), and the band suddenly shot into mainstream radio awareness, with appearances on virtually every TV show in existence. The single made the top 5, and they became the popular British rock band they are today, despite somewhat odd snubs by the radio 1/2 playlist controllers, which seen 2008 album "Silent Cry" become an undeserved relative sales bomb :(. Wiley- "Wearing My Rololex"- After a series of singles charting at positions like number 46, and many others below the top 40, it became a sudden suprise he charted at number 2 with this song. Snow Patrol- "Run"- Between 1997-2003 this band looked destined to be criminally ignored. Three albums both falling short of the top 75 by a long mile, and a batch of singles all with three figure chart placings, it looked like this band would be doomed to small toilet venues forever. However they had an ace up their sleeves, and suddenly caught radio controllers attention, and then the public's with this heart felt single which I still think is their best, that charted in the top 5 and it all went on from there, turning "Final Straw" from an undeserved flop, into a million seller. I bought the album in 2003, and never thought people would pick up on this song.

Makes up for "Umbrella" last year I think!.

September 15, 200816 yr Here (In Your Arms) - HelloGoodbye 21st Century Christmas - Cliif Richard Breeze On By - Donny Osmond Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone 4-4-2 - Come On England
September 15, 200816 yr Snow Patrol- "Run"- Between 1997-2003 this band looked destined to be criminally ignored. I bought the album in 2003, and never thought people would pick up on this song. One of the great Glastonbury moments was Snow Patrol performing this on the main stage. One of the 6Music presenters had been talking that day about how she had been talking to Gary Lightbody's father earlier. He had been saying how he had thought his son was wasting his time trying to achieve a breakthrough when suddenly they became huge. Gary's face when they performed this and had the crowd singing along was a picture. It looked like it was the moment he realised just how big Snow Patrol had become. He just looked totally overwhelmed by it all. Other bands who waited ages before suddenly hitting the jackpot were James (with Sit Down) and Pulp (with Common People although Babies had sneaked into the top 20 before that).
