September 18, 200816 yr OK guys stop throwing insults all over the place, I did mention on page 1 not to attack members, keep it on topic. CASE CLOSED
September 18, 200816 yr The new remixes probably wont be bought by everyone. I personally see it as just reaching out to a new audience as from the clips they certainly are 'dance remixes'. They wont be many fans cups of tea. I'm only downloading them as I found them in a cheap deal with the album, but that's fine for me as I like most genres of music including dance music.
September 18, 200816 yr Plus, tbh, the whole album deal isn't going to make anyone but those who were already going to buy the album, buy the album. To me it just looks like the stores being competitive. It's not like someone's going to want to buy the album who wasn't going to already just because it comes with a free crappy small poster which i've heard some stores have been giving out to people on their way out of HMV this week. Also, those exclusive acoustics on the Woolworths album were on the One For The Radio singles. Not so exclusive really, Woolworths!
September 18, 200816 yr At the end of the day, people dont have to explain themselves for getting annoyed with mcfly, the charts pretty much say it all when they enter the chart at no2 and then fall out the top 20 the week after. If thats not trying to manipulate fans, i dont know what is. Its there in black and white and the fans fall for it with every single. Infact i cant believe they get away with it actually, especially that begging thing. In a society where adverts aimed at kids are banned, its shocking that they are allowed to plead with young fans to download, download, download. I mean ok rule the world by take that might have had a lot of downloads etc but it was also one of the biggest songs of the year and had an amazing chart run. I don't get this myth where they plead with people to download? They don't as far as i'm aware. Sure they may advertise excessively, but everyone has a brain. It's not like they're saying "buy this song, or we'll f***ing shoot you" is it? So what if they want people to buy their records, end of the day their in a business which is about selling records and selling out tours. If people wanna buy multiple tracks, then they should be allowed to buy them, as it's their favourite band. Like I say, if people want to spend their money on buying their records then they should be able to. People plug stuff all the time, just yesterday I was listening to Radio 1 and Pussycat Dolls were plugging their new single and dropping suttle hints all the time. Then they went on this special webcam that Scott Mills has going at the moment and held a white board up saying to buy their new single - it's the same principle of what McFly are doing, but no-one complains.
September 18, 200816 yr Well thats an interesting way to look at it but the fact is, mcfly have a very loyal fanbase and to be honest, most other people dont seem to like them which is why they fall down the chart so quickly and have low album sales. So to me that just shows that mcfly know they have to manipulate their fanbase as much as possible in order to get some sales and the amount of gimmicks they pull is shocking. They have 3 cd versions!!! Universal music are only allowing shops to stock one cd in Jan 2009!! Theyve got 3 out!
September 19, 200816 yr they should be ashamed of themselves taking childrens pocket money like this every time When i went to the milton keynes signing on tuesday there were loads of people there yet there wasn't very many young kinds most of the girls and GUY's were 15+ yes when mcfly started out they had loads of kiddy fans but as they've gone on they have lost them as for sales yes mcfly's are low but they still never seem to fail to sell out big Arenas which they are getting more money from anyway Is anyone forcing them to buy them? NO!
September 19, 200816 yr This is how ALL the artists used to promote their singles... Just cause it's McFly everyone is on their backs about it. After all NOBODY is FORCING you to buy the stuff they release I think they are doing a great job Im a fan of McFly and i'm not afraid to say it. If I like any oif their singles I will buy it. The thing that gets on my nerves is that it's whenever McFly release one or more versions of the track everyone go's nuts, but anyone else then it's fine for them to do it!
September 19, 200816 yr This Topic is the best ever! It's ok for some acts to do it, but when its McFly that do, oh jeez World War 3 has just started!
September 19, 200816 yr I liked mcfly until i knew they did this sort of thing. And the point is, they do the same thing every time. If some artists do it, its a one off usually. Edited September 19, 200816 yr by Robintime11
September 19, 200816 yr I liked mcfly until i knew they did this sort of thing. And the point is, they do the same thing every time. If some artists do it, its a one off usually. The bile towards McFly is completely unjustified. So lets see if in advance a certain grossly overhyped girl group who are blatantly being groomed to replace Girls Aloud (with the allegations of Cheryl quitting the band in 2009; Nadine recording her debut solo album in LA, etc) are true. This certain Girl group with a relatively huge marketing budget behind them released their debut single which most music pundits expected to go Top 3, but it only limped in at #8, with the rather poor chart run: {8}-13-19-25-36-47-61 © Polyhex.com. However, for their follow up single they are pulling out ALL the stops to blatantly hype a huge chart debut peak. The single will be released digitally on Sunday 12th October 2008 and physically on Monday 13th October 2008 with the release of the album will follow a week later. It is released in the following formats: UK CD Single 1. "Up" - 3:23 2. "Crashing Down" And the following versions on iTunes: 1. "Up" (Wideboys Remix) - 6:02 2. "Up" (Riffs & Rays Remix) - 7:00 3. "Up" (Sticky Remix) - 5:17 4. "Up" (Wideboys Dub) - 6:01 5. "Up" (Sticky Dub) - 5:19 6. "Up" (Wideboys Radio Edit) - 3:04 7. "Up" (Riffs & Rays Radio Edit) - 3:37 8. "Up" (Sticky Radio Edit) - 3:17 9. "Up" (Original Radio Mix) - 3:23 So their fans can download the track in 9 different versions. But seeing as The Saturdays are a girl group bummed to death on Buzzjack, they wont get criticised like McFly on this site will they?

September 19, 200816 yr I liked mcfly until i knew they did this sort of thing. And the point is, they do the same thing every time. If some artists do it, its a one off usually. They're just sticking to what they know works and it's OBVIOUSLY working. (Well for the first week anyway ;)) It's like sticking to the same formula in a successful song i.e - Scouting For Girls, Scooter, Cascada - May sound similar but it's working for them!
September 19, 200816 yr These topics just make me laugh. People who diss McFly for trying to do well, they don't even have a good reason, all it is is that they just don't like their music. I don't always agree with McFly's tactics but I love their music so I'll buy all the formats and stuff, I don't really care whether they get to No. 1 or No. 2 or wherever, just as long as they keep making music that us fans enjoy. The end.

(Well for the first week anyway ;)) It's like sticking to the same formula in a successful song i.e - Scouting For Girls, Scooter, Cascada - May sound similar but it's working for them! I bet most of the people who moan are also people who moan about the death of the physical. Then when someone like McFly releases and they sell on physical they still moan!
September 19, 200816 yr I bet most of the people who moan are also people who moan about the death of the physical. Then when someone like McFly releases and they sell on physical they still moan! That's True. I think i am now more convinced than ever before with the fact that it's because it's an all male group.
September 19, 200816 yr for One For The Radio, they were urging their fans to make sure they downloaded their preorders before midnight on Saturday night otherwise they wouldn't count towards the sales
September 19, 200816 yr Really though, McFly are not dong anything that other groups don't! If I were in the business I would do all I could to maximise my chart potential - especially in the fickle pop market. The point about all this fuss as McFly are a male band is also a good point <_>
September 19, 200816 yr The fact that Lies is a better single than anything they've ever done almost gave me respect for McFly.....but they've fallen back into their old tricks. Luckily, it won't work for them.
