Such a shame about Will, i was convinced it was going to be No1 - it is one of my fave songs of the year by my fave artist at the moment, and i own all the singles, albums, dvds books etc

 

I think ITunes says it all really :( there is no stocking problems on there? the single had a advert on the front page viewed by millions, it was even sent out in the weekly email - people aren't buying it :( i think it is a brillant song and should be no1 easily but it looks like it has gone un-noticed.

 

Maybe Grace will be huge, still think the album will do OK but i no longer think its going to be No1 thanks to Kings of leon

 

I have bought the single, and am buying the album also i think it's fab but ITunes dropping says it all, no stocking problems on there! looks like the market just changed, but i think Will's career is safe :) and the album will do OK maybe this time it might just do 600,000? not a million! shame it sounded like the best album as well...

The fact the single rose on Amazon when it was supposed to be out of stock still puzzles me and I still think it was a marketing ploy, suggesting it was. As someone said it can only be counted when the CD is despatched, so if they haven't got any to despatch, how can it improve :unsure:

I really hope that Morrison's song will break into the top 10 before Sunday, it seems to be peaking at just about the right time.

I heard James performing on Loose Women today with his band. He was really good and looked very happy. I read somewhere he's got a new baby, perhaps thats why.

I never quite understood this myth, songs bring horribly overplayed has never stopped them selling well before. Plus I'd say 'Changes' hasn't had overexposure at all, just normal.

I suppose that depends on the song. Songs like Chasing Cars, Bleeding Love and Umbrella have been played to death but I for one still love listening to all of them as much as I did when they were new. Whereas some songs drive me mad when they're played constantly. And I'm not meaning `Changes' when I say that, although I'd rather be listening to Gareth's `Changes'. If only :wub:

Looking at Will, and the fact that either he, or his management put out the download version a week before the physical release...I came up with the following:

 

If "Changes" had been released physically at the same time as the download, then Will would have had a number 2 hit.

 

Although around 4,000 short of Kings Of Leon.

 

Saying that he does have the biggest selling physical single this week, but he is only 400 copies in front of Cliff Richard in 2nd place, White Lies follow at 3 physically, and Katy Perry is 4, with Kings Of Leon selling only half of Will`s total in 5th place.

well i went to hmv today and they had Will singles. also if there is multi buying (with no stock problem) going on this week to inflate his chart position like mcfly's singles then it will show up in next weeks chart (if he falls dramatically). however if there is a problem with people buying his physicals this week online and it gets sorted out at the start of next week then next weeks chart he should hold steady or even climb as those sales kick in.

 

imho speaking as someone who is part of "the wider public" his new single is quite lacklustre with a weak chorus, it isn't very fresh sounding but he has a mature sound compared to the rest of the songs in the top10. he's done better

i see what you mean, fans would buy it more to get more sales i dont think they'd do it on purpose, all the negative press? they may have restricted supply or shops didnt order in as much to make people buy the album

I bought the single & buying the album :) i think it's brill and i was shocked it was at No9, i was sure it would be No1!!!
