I didn't even know he had an album out

hahaha...his album is out on the same day of Let It Go...that is29th!!!...and maybe he chose the wrong time to release all these thingsXDDD...
I can't believe Katy's album isn't in the Top 10! :o Sugababes are Top 10!!
James Morrison could actually beat Will in the album chart next week I think :o
That said HMV as well as Amazon are now out of stock of the single which beggs the question how much do his label care about it's chart position anyway? Not a lot it seems, if the stock to the major physical suppliers was kept low. I think Changes has just been used to promote the album, get him the necessary airplay, but they don't want it bought at the expense of a potential album sale.

After reading all the accusations about McFly `cheating' this smacks of out and out control to me. Fans openly admitting that the single is not being made available thereby forcing people into buying the album next week, when they may only want the single. Every bit as bad as what McFly have been accused of in my book. How desperate is Will Young to get a high charting album.

Fans can buy the single from ITunes. They're hardly being forced to buy the album next week...

Oh come now, these things happen, Estelle's record company deleted American Boy because people were still buying the single at the expense of her album. She admitted that in an interview at the Mercurys. Just because this site is obsessed with single sales, do you really think the artists and their labels are? Reality check, no one is interested in singles, outlets don't stock them and labels don't make any money from them They are there purely as ambassadors of an album, that's the truth of it and it's how all the majors operate.

And for another instance of how a massive selling single can wreck an album's sales, I give you Kate Perry this week. She's just lucky that she's done so well in other countries.

:o Never thought of it like that!

But people aren't forced to buy the album. It's rare I buy an album based on first singles (Depending on who the act is Britney, Kelly Clarkson and Girls Aloud are all safe for me ) but if people are only going to buy that album on it's release week only for that one song then they're actually more dumb than i thought they would be. Unless the buyer are of course people who have his previous albums and are a fan of him, Like I am with Britney, Kelly & Girls Aloud

We've heard quite a few of the album tracks . Believe me I'm not buying it just for Changes. :P I agree with Marguerite. Changes was used to promote, that was obvious from the early start it had. Perhaps they considered it had done it's job and cut back on physicals even though it was available in that format.

The singles chart is an unknown quantity now with all the album tracks being available to download. No-one knows what's going to come up next  I very often read the comment on here "Where did that come from" If someone covering a song on XFactor can do it - anything's possible. Bet Faith Hill's rubbing her hands - earning money without lifting a finger

Is Madcon still top 10 on singles? I'm guessing not. Any sign of the album in the top 200 (yesterday)?

True, but Katy Perry hasn't done well in the States with her album either. People just don't seem interested in having a whole album of her songs for whatever reason. There are a lot of artists/bands though who have big selling first singles and then big selling albums too.

Katy Perry deserves top 10 with her album It's great. Shame it's not quite living up to the standards her single did, but Hot 'N' Cold is ALREADY climbing on iTunes and hopefully that will do better for her album. Also maybe people have lost interests in albums coz they know that in a few months there will be a Deluxe anyway   (I dont know if Katy's doing a Deluxe Edition, thats just what artists seem to be doing at the moment )

Yes, I agree , Will being one of them ;)

But it doesn't always follow. The biggest selling single of a couple of years back Gnarl's 'CRAZY' didn't set his album run on fire either. Sometimes people just want to own that one particular song , I've done it myself, with Gnarls and Paulo Nutini's Last Request being the tracks in question, although I did buy Paulo's album on sale about a year later. :D

Lol yup. Novelty singles like Crazy and to an extent I Kissed A Girl don't seem to be great album sellers.

Where is Michelle williams single? Please and Thank you xxx

Gutted for Will Young :o

His second lowest charting ever, with one of his best songs :( Hopefully it means the album will sell LOTS next week.

I'm not sure Will's album will do that great. If you think about it, the disappointing 'Switch It On' underperformed and it took the album's initial chart run down with it, only having a big hit like 'All Time Love' as a second single saved it. It may have to be the same case here.
