Collide - Freak Like Me

Hold on, you're hard on yourself

After all the song length discussion in the confirmations thread, it seems apt to state in here as well that at just under 7 minutes, this is I believe my third longest entry to BJSC (but definitely not the longest in this edition xo). I'm not 100% sure but I believe I found Collide by looking through similar artists of the band Kidneythieves, as I'm kind of going through a period where I'm listening, among other things, to styles like industrial rock, darkwave, etc.

I've listened to all of Collide's main studio albums (excluding their covers albums, although I did hear their interesting and slightly amusing cover of Björk's 'Human Behaviour') and while I would say much of their music does fit more into that sort of 'industrial' tag, I would describe 'Freak Like Me' as more gentle and melodic than much of their other music.

It's from their 2022 album Notes From The Universe. I also particularly like the closing song on that album, called 'I Go Crashing'.

As I've said before, the vocals are very Goldfrapp-esque. I hope some of you really like this ❤️ Thanks for reading, and bye.

Her vocals remind me of Kate Bush on Freak Like Me. A very good thing.

Oh, that's cool! I didn't check that contest's archive to see if the artist had been sent there, I think I just checked BJSC, so I had no idea!
