24k :o biggest first mids sale of 2008! really deserves it in my opinion, this band just seem to be getting bigger and bigger every year!

I must admit, after cts i thought they would never have another no1.

I can't believe how low Sugababes are!

Could someone please post what position Tattoo is, and which Mariah album is in the Top 40.

interesting to follow leon's progress aka decline and to compare him past x-factor male acts. so far so bad...selling 32k for the single is dire considering how much his previous single sold (has the x-factor audience abandoned him already?). simon cowell must be worried that this cash cow isn't going to deliver no matter how much he milks it. time will tell, how much did ray quinn and shayne ward sell with their album in the first week and what were their albums chart runs?

Previous x factor winners and runners up first week sales, dont have the chart runs.

All figures approx.

Winners

Steve Brookstein 60,000

Shayne Ward 200,000

Leona Lewis 375,000

Runners up

G4 245,000

Andy Abrahams 175,000

Journey south 215,000 (3rd place finalists)

Ray Quinn 125,000

Ben Mills 63,500 (3rd placed finalist).

wow, i thought mariah ballads would go top 10!

I didn't. It's one of those albums where the old record label is milking the artist for as much as they can. It's got nothing new on it at all and the newest song on it is from 'Glitter', released in 2001 just before she was dropped from that label.

wow, i thought mariah ballads would go top 10!

At first so did I, but it turns out it's nothing but a cash in from her old record label and has no input from Mariah or any of her recent songs whatsoever. It doesn't even have We Belong Together or Bye Bye on it  It's not really been promoted either.

I didn't think Sugababes C&S would reach number 1 but i sure hope they rise by Sunday! :o I haven't heard this Girls Aloud track yet which seems odd because i've heard 'Girls' countless times in the past few weeks on telly and radio - Is it being played less then their usual songs?

Oh right, i just presumed because she is known for her ballads that it would do well but that explains it if its nothing new on it.

GA are no2 on radio airplay last week so am surprised you havent heard it.

eh?

Assume he or she means Christmas, when the X-Factor winner has bigger sales.

Fantastic to see the song Diana performed go Top 40 :o :w00t: 19 copies ahead of The Saturdays for Geraldine :o and SASH has climbed :cheer:

I think Guru Josh Project and Katy Perry could both be Top 10 come Sunday. Impressive sales for GA :o I thought they'd shift 15-18k on first day but 22 :D

I hope Chris and Keri can get Top 40 by sunday. I thought Sugababes would get at LEAST Top 5 in the albums :o I understand they had Leon & AC/DC & Kaiser Chiefs to compete with but I thought they could at least beat Leon (not so much because he did have X Factor -_-) and Katherine Jenkins :o Imagine if The Saturdays go higher next week

When I heard Tattoo was getting re-released, I thought it would go Top 10 - but that's probably because a physical release was planned then. ^_^

That doesnt surprise me though, absolutely awful song.

The album charting does surprise me though. Some good songs on there.

I agree the album does have some good songs on it, but to be fair... the music buying public haven't heard any of those, they only know 'Girls', and who would that entice to buy an album outside of their existing core fanbase? Not many. The single is also sliding down as if it has a brick tied to it.

The next single is better, but I'm not convinced it will do all that well. I guess it does have the advantage of not being overshadowed by a HUGE single this time.

I thought they'd shift 15-18k on first day but 22

24.6k to be precise!!

I am so, so, so happy for Girls Aloud. This track is such a grower and im so glad people have clicked with it. It seems like at least half the people hated it on first listen but now really like it. They are long overdue their 4th no.1 so here's to the girls!

In other news, im so happy that The Saturdays are keeping up the momentum at no.6, could Geraldine possibly fall behind and give them at second week at #5? Either way im so happy its proven so many people wrong (the same with GA), it looks set to sell what ITIL has overall in 2 weeks time!

Shame for Sugababes, it could rise to #7 or #6. Maybe 2 weeks before it would of gone top 5 but the competition is so hard this week. I'd be interested to see their sales... about 10/13k?

Bloc Party only top 60!

Hopeully it'll rise significantly throughout the week
