January 20, 200917 yr   For The Saturdays! I was expecting 'Issues' to fall but pleased it is holding on at #4 and incredible that 'Up' is back in the Top 30
January 20, 200917 yr I'm really hoping Franz Ferdinand can at least secure a top 20 entry with Ulysses, but it's looking unlikely :( It's their best single for years and it really deserves to do well! I know it leaked a while back along with the album, which must have lost sales, but surely that happens with a lot of other artists? Thing is, it doesn't seem to have had the same (negative) impact chartwise for those artists as it has with Ulysses. I think the thing with Franz Ferdinand is the fact that the single and album leaked about 5 weeks ago and is literally EVERYWHERE on the net - The record company seem to have done very little in terms of stopping the album leaking so early or getting links to download sites removed - Anyone who wanted this single/album had it long ago and it seems that nobody is buying it now :nocheer:
January 20, 200917 yr Ouch for FF with 'Ulysses' only being top 30. It's rising on iTunes though, so should hopefully be at least top 20 by Sunday How has the Slumdog Milllionaire OST charted? :o It's by various artists, so shouldn't it be in compilations?
January 20, 200917 yr So pleased at The Saturdays success - Hopefully the BJ haters will quiet down now! :heehee: Up until last week they had sold 453,410 singles and albums in the UK and now the debut album looks like reaching a new peak after getting to #11 on release. The have started to take off in Ireland too - 2 Top 20 singles so far and the album reaching a new peak there too last week
January 20, 200917 yr Ooh, forgot about The Sats :yahoo: Pink and Tinchy Stryder. Leona is Top 10 imo.
January 20, 200917 yr The record company seem to have done very little in terms of stopping the album leaking so early or getting links to download sites removed - Anyone who wanted this single/album had it long ago and it seems that nobody is buying it now This is not so. Domino, very surprisingly, do a lot more than most labels to remove dodgy links. They use the web sheriff company who make it their goal to remove all links from the web for each release. Franz Ferdinand do, however, appeal more to the kind of blogs that upload album archives to rapidshare and link to them than most acts in the charts...so there are loads more than usual to chase after. There can be no doubt that the band's long, long break between albums has meant a lot of younger fans have moved on. Also, I'd still expect the album to be number one next week unless there are other strong contenders. Anyone know if Pete and the Pirates will enter the Top 100 / 150 / 200 this week?
January 20, 200917 yr BTW, why's Seasick Steve's I Started something, blah, blah, blah charting so high again?
January 20, 200917 yr Fantastic for The Saturdays, Although I'm not celebrating yet remember the week of release.. They were at #9 all week and then on Sunday they were #11, I really hope they can stick in the top 10 they really deserve it! Fantastic climb for up & issues holding at 4! I thought pokerface would have been top 25 by now :o No sign of Franz either :(
January 20, 200917 yr Author Only 1 new entry in the singles chart, the only track that has left the chart from last week is Jeff Buckley
January 20, 200917 yr BTW, why's Seasick Steve's I Started something, blah, blah, blah charting so high again? He did some promo over the weekend, I saw him on a couple of shows. And I'm not sure, but I think he might be on tour.
January 20, 200917 yr Fantastic for The Saturdays :o I feel this is going to be a long burner on the charts! Incredible for Alesha also!
January 20, 200917 yr Only 1 new entry in the singles chart, the only track that has left the chart from last week is Jeff Buckley :nocheer: ...Any news on Jeff's album 'So Real' which was #35 on Sunday?! Or has 'Grace' managed to climb and go Top 40 please :)
