March 8, 200916 yr As usual, you prove what an utter JOKE you are... "put the Great back into Britain"...??? Where.....??? Oh, you mean the FALKLANDS???? Bollocks.... That was just a distraction, some bullsh"t war to take our minds away from the fact that she destroyed our manufacturing industries and get her a second term in office... Things were almost certainly NOT going well for Thatch when she first started out, people forget the deep recession that happened in the early 80s.. The Falklands was a pathetic, flag-waving, bullsh!t exercise in the worst kind of jingoism and patriotism.... State funeral..??? Fukk that... All she deserves is a body dump in a skip and taken to a fukkin landfill...... <_< If there is a state funeral for this evil, murdering b/itch, I'll be on the march of protest..... She is to get a State Funeral as it's already been approved by The Queen and rightly so. May even be a Public Holiday if it's a weekday. We may all get a day off! I wasn't particularly thinking of the Falklands but the miners that she stood up to. They were holding the country to ransom with that idiot Scargill. The Iron Lady sorted them out though. Oh and I'm from Barnsley, a real mining town! Edited March 8, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris

March 8, 200916 yr FFS Mushy it was just a figure of speech!!! Seems I've to watch every word and think how it may be interpreted. :( Takes the fun out of posting on forums really. Edited March 8, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris

March 8, 200916 yr I meant the workforce in general, country in general not me at all. Blimey you lot jump on everything. Tell you what, this section doesn't deserve my opinions and contribution. At least on DS all opinions are allowed and bullies get banned quickly. i have trouble in believing anything you say... you post like a child, gets mard-ons like a child, claim to be depressed yet do nothing but make your situation worse by trawling the crappy internet all day spouting crap that youve lifted off the pages of the sun... take a look around at the things other adults have had said to them.... craig has had more then anyone, both me and grimly have been riddiculed as have tip, russt, jjn, but do we have mard- ons like a child?....no... we take the criticism as much as we dish it out. we do get it wrong sometimes and we take it on the chin. this forum is open for discussion and debate, it isnt a schoolyard wall for slogans to be written , but a mechanism for points of view to be aired, challenged, and ridiculed as of right. so SUPPORT your opinions otherwise they are little more then trite slogans.
March 8, 200916 yr you are completely WRONG about scargill... he has been proven right. He certainly was.... Thatcher very clearly and very vindictively destroyed the miners because she wanted to ideologically break the backs of the workers' movement... She succeeded, and now look at where we are.... Slave "wages", utility company rip-offs and financial catastrophe..... And our public and financial services being run into the ground by incompetent managers and admin..... Welcome to the new world order.....

Are you having a laugh....? Actually a day off for it...? GOOD. Then that means we wouldn't have to call in sick to go out an protest against this piece of sh!t......
March 8, 200916 yr I am going to avoid Maggie herself as my views are well documented and no need to repeat them but.... 1) There needed to be change, Denis Healey going cap in hand to the IMF, winter of discontent with power cuts, rubbish piling up in the street, dead going unburied, 3 day week (although that might have been Heath I am a little hungover this morning), green goddesses, strikes left right and centre, things needed to change 2) Manufacturing industry was already crumbling and a total mess before Maggie took power, British Leyland was a laughing stock across the world (even Basil Fawlty made BL jokes in Fawlty Towers and that finished long before Maggie took over), coal was uncompetitive price wise, it was cheaper for power companies to import coal from Romania than it was to buy home made coal so the mining industry needed a shake out, steel and tin were a mess (Callaghan hired Ian McGregor to shake up the steel industry), manufacturing was a dead duck in this country 3) The big thing that changed Britain was computers, that would have happened whoever had been in power, computers could do things that men could do, there was less need for men as computers could do the job, most of the job losses under Maggie I would say was due to the changing technology and the fact computers meant less workers were needed, blame Bill Gates and Steve Jobs not Maggie 4) On the subject of computers again that completely changed the print industry and meant the moves from strike riddled Fleet St to computerised Wapping for the publishers 5) Maggie introduced the enterprise culture into Britain, people suddenly realised they could be their own boss, 1.6million new businesses were created under Maggie, this helped create the service economy that took over from manufacturing, every self employed person and company director in this country under the age of about 55 owes that to Maggie Capitalism I believe is a great concept, I do not believe there is anything wrong with or anything to feel guilty about wanting to better oneself in life and make a success of oneself and capitalism is the vehicle for that to happen, yes some like Fred Goodman have abused capitalism and used it to fit their own twisted ideals but you could say the same about Pol Pot and communism for instance, there is no reason why anyone cannot set up a business, you an buy a Ltd company off the net for £30 registration at Companies House, capitalism is a good thing :) abuse of capitalism is bad

She probably would have praised the likes of Fred Goodman, the Bonus Culture, and these c/unts in the city as well. As, I believe, Mayor Boris has already done...... As good a reason as any to not vote Tory..... "Enterprise Culture" was a good headline or a campaign slogan, but actually meant very little as, let's face it, much of our manufacturing or industry base was being bought up by Japan, US or Germany, and Maggie went aroudn "selling the family silver" resulting in us all being totally fukkin' ripped off..... We could have gone down the path of Germany and Sweden as far as Industrial Relations go, very, very rarely does Germany or Sweden have strikes or even much discontent, and yet they have even stronger unions than the UK did in the 1970s, German and Scandinavian workers enjoy a much higher standard of living than the majority of their UK or US counterparts also.... So, I'm sorry, I'm simply not prepared to believe that it's the unions per se that have been the problem.... The works of Theo Nichols expose far more complex reasons and explanations for the state we are now in than we are being led to believe by Tory or Nu Labor propaganda....
March 8, 200916 yr Just to re-iterate to Crazy Chris, this part of the forum is open to controversy and open opinions. If you make statements and are unable to back them up, then expect to get pounced on - the whole point of this part of the forum is to encourage thoughtful debate. I don't think Mushy and GRIMLY are bullies, they are just trying to get you to back up your statements. Btw, I didn't think the Queen had approved a State Funeral for Thatcher as it was such a thorny issue. No PM has had a State Funeral before have they?

There was a story that Thatcher would get one but it was denied a few days later. As far as I'm aware no decision has been made.
March 8, 200916 yr Churchill had a state funeral. There was a story that Thatcher would get one but it was denied a few days later. As far as I'm aware no decision has been made. Of course! He deserved it, however.
March 8, 200916 yr Clegg is talking a load of crap as usual and is an irrelevance anyway. Who cares what he says anyway. Maggie was a great Prime Minister and probably the best we've ever had. Fully deserves her State Funeral when she dies. She put the "Great" back in to Britain. How lovely to see a Buzzjack member living up to their username. Best PM ever? I can only presume you weren't even born when this despicable woman was busy ruining the United Kingdom. And as for a state funeral - I'd love a public funeral - but only after a public execution.

Oh and I'm from Barnsley, a real mining town! your vileness escalates with each post - how disgusting that someone who witnessed at close range the pointless, spiteful, disgraceful conduct of Thatcher during this strike can type such bilge. Perhaps you'd like to walk around Barnsley spouting off your bull$h!t - then come back here to tell us of the reactions your simpleton viewpoints got you. If you're alive, that is.

I can only presume you weren't even born when this despicable woman was busy ruining the United Kingdom. . Of course I was. I was 19 when she was elected PM in 1979. The unions had far too much power before Maggie became PM. I remember TV closing down at 10pm, three day weeks and bodies and rubbish piling up in the streets. Imagine if Callaghan had been re-elected? Can you say Britain was Great in 1979, before the election? Edited March 8, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris

Look, the country had been held hostage by strikers 10 years previously, 1974 and Maggie was determined this wouldn't happen again. To quote a Digital Spy poster recently "Scargill was an odious little man" He thought he was some kind of God but met his match in Maggie didn't he? Edited March 8, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris
