I don't think Wale wants to join the crowd of names that take ages to type on a keyboard unless you happen to have 'é' on copy and paste (see Beyoncé, Céline Dion, Esmée Denters etc.) so he just keeps it as Wale instead of Walé and constantly reminds us how to pronounce it throughout the song. "DC chillin PG chillin my name WAH-LAY" "They keep sayin' whale but my name WAH-LAY" "Your man WAH-LAY in his own damn lane" "That's money on my mind, WAH-LAY" etc. It does get a little annoying after a while, but it doesn't deduct too much from the song which is still pretty amazing imho.
