Posted February 15, 201510 yr WELL? I've booked to see it next weekend but has anyone got thoughts to share already?
February 15, 201510 yr Saw this today (heels definitely helped me pass for 18) and it was a lot better than expected! I felt uncomfortable during the 'punishment' scene and was a bit bored in places (the film felt like it went on long then suddenly the ending was so abrupt!) but yes it was enjoyable. The soundtrack was BRILLIANTLY edited into each scene! Some passable acting in places but I liked both portrayals of the roles overall.
February 15, 201510 yr Well I kinda knew it wasn't really gonna be my film I was just curious & wanted an opinion of my own (knowing that every man & his dog would be rambling on about it otherwise). I never read the book so whether that helped or hindered my take on it is up for debate. That said it was ok for what it was. Probably wouldn't get your hopes up too much but I'm sure certain ppl will love it more than others...
February 15, 201510 yr Terrible in every way. I found the whole thing very uncomfortable to watch; even though everything was technically consensual you could tell she didn't really want to be enacting such activities. I found it all a bit disturbing and not hot or sexy at all. The script was diabolically cringey as well, which ruined any scene they were trying to set up an atmosphere in. Don't know if it's just the bad writing in the book because I've never read it (and don't plan to). It somehow managed to be both disturbing and utterly dull at the same time. It very much dragged and I just felt like when the ending came that nothing really had truly happened before hand. The ending was utterly shit as well. Not hated a film like this in a long time (as I am sure you can tell).
February 15, 201510 yr It felt all a bit style over substance for me and the acting was so wooden. Got to hand it to the Marketing team, they really have managed to sell such a steaming pile of shit.
February 15, 201510 yr Terrible in every way - seconded. I knew it wouldn't be amazing - it's been absolutely slated and is based on a poorly written book that was also slated by the critics. But I was hoping to get some guilty pleasure enjoyment from it. It was so boring. The acting was terrible. And there was definite cycles of abuse being glamorised. It's funny how a film so terrible can drag in so much money, and rich, sensitive and interesting films about female sexuality like 'Wild' struggle at the box office.

I'd say wild did very well at the box office :)
February 15, 201510 yr I'd say wild did very well at the box office :) Really? $45,108,010 worldwide is pretty underwhelming.
February 15, 201510 yr Really? $45,108,010 worldwide is pretty underwhelming. I'd say it has done a bit disappointing worldwide but great in America. Over 35M for a limited release on probably a small budget is great :)
February 16, 201510 yr It's done OKAY. It didn't flop. But considering its sheer quality, it should have been more popular. 50 shades will make 25,000000000000x as much money and is rubbish.
February 16, 201510 yr It's done a strong $81 million this weekend there but it's most likely going to finish its run at about $150-160 million which seems slightly underwhelming. But I did think it was going to be quite front-loaded so I'm not too surprised. Did $21.1 million in the Uk which translates to around £13 million I think. Amazing start but I can't see it going over £25 million in the end, I'm expecting it to fall like a rock.

Wild deserved to be massive, it's so amazing. Reese deserves to win the Oscar  It's done a strong $81 million this weekend there but it's most likely going to finish its run at about $150-160 million which seems slightly underwhelming. February 16, 201510 yr I thought this was incredibly weakly written, acted and sold to the audience as a story. Obviously the script can entirely be blamed on E. L. James, from the first moment when Ana met Christian I was cringing at how poor the writing was (having not read the books) but really, tripping over through the door to an office??? Dakota Johnson was pretty terrible throughout, her constant seductive lip-biting was really embarrassing to watch. I expected a lot better from Jamie Dornan as well given his role in The Fall. (Also bless Rita Ora for trying, an utterly useless role). The only thing that I really loved was the soundtrack and Danny Elfman's score, both of which were perfectly suited to every scene. Edited February 16, 201510 yr by THEO.
February 16, 201510 yr I kinda want to see this b/c Jamie Dornan but I hate the whole concept really and still think it's ridiculous it's such a phenomenon. What's worse is my friend genuinely went to see it for Rita Ora alone  Literally DURING her going to it I saw this article "everything Rita Ora says in 50 Shades" and it was barley a few lines
February 16, 201510 yr No matter who was going to be Mr. Grey or whether the film was going to be bad or terrible/worst film ever, it was ALWAYS going to do big things. But yeah, definitely going to drop off incredibly quickly. It'll last popular enough for the last two Orange Wednesdays but after that, it'll fall completely off the radar until the DVD is released (some time in August, maybe?). 'Wild' got a very small release practically everywhere hence why it hasn't done much at many of the box offices!
February 16, 201510 yr That hair though  http://i.huffpost.com/gen/2597460/thumbs/n-RITA-ORA-50-SHADES-large570.jpg

February 16, 201510 yr What's worse is my friend genuinely went to see it for Rita Ora alone  Literally DURING her going to it I saw this article "everything Rita Ora says in 50 Shades" and it was barley a few lines  I just googled that article and had to share it with everyone  Rita Ora put in a full compliment of prep work for her role as Mia Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey." "I prepped for the role by learning some French first of all, by learning an American accent and by really just not being me," Ora told MTV in April of 2014, months after she was cast as Christian Grey's sister. "I had a brown wig on and I was being the smart girl that came from French school to see her family, so it was just a lot of dedication, it was like going back to school." Speaking to MTV in May of that same year, Ora revealed she had an acting coach for the film, too. "It was really nice to get into a whole other world that I wasn't used to, but it was pretty difficult," she said of her foray into movies. Yet despite all that effort, Ora appears in less than two minutesof the 125-minute film. She says a grand total of four sentences, one of which is spoken in French. ("I had to have someone in my ear on set telling me what to say before I said it. Because I was honestly so nervous, I forgot everything I learned," she told Access Hollywood.) Ahead, everything Rita Ora says in "Fifty Shades of Grey." 1. "She's here?" 2. "Oh my God, you exist." 3. "Uck, Seattle baseball." 4. [sentence in French]
February 16, 201510 yr until the DVD is released (some time in August, maybe?). Released in June apparently, which feels a bit soon - but I guess they'll want to cash in on it before the momentum is brutally murdered.
