 Could 2020 finally be the year that 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' reaches #1?  26 years on from its release and it has yet to outdo its peak of#2. It has come close on a few occasions, but these were #1 instead: 1994: East 17 - Stay Another Day 2017: Ed Sheeran - Perfect 2018: Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho (Mariah missed out by 152 sales  ) 2019: Alexa Goulding - Alexa, Play Christmas Songs In the Friday 27th November 2020 chart, Ariana Grande - Positions is #1 for a 5th week on sales of 42,870. Presumably its sales will decrease in the Fri 4th Dec chart. There doesn't appear to be very strong competition. Billie Eilish and Little Mix are the only other two songs that managed 30k+ in the latest chart. Mariah was #14 with 18,609, an improvement on the equivalent week in 2019, which was #34 - 14,360. On 6th December 2019 it was #8 with 32,389 chart sales. If the song continues to perform better in 2020 than 2019, could it edge its way ahead of Ariana? I think this is bound to be its year unless there is a big surprise release. Chose the Xmas chart week as for when but wouldn’t be surprised if it gets there sooner where none of the new releases seem to be gaining any major traction.

I just don't know could easily see it again at #2
 I'd like it to go to #1 but it's gonna chart year upon year upon year anyways so it doesn't matter if it misses out It'll be before Christmas chart if it does get there though. |

I'm going to be OPTIMISTIC and say yes, and it'll make it on 11th December, but obviously the sooner the better
 and of course I want it to make #1, who wouldn't?

I hope it does purely so we don't have another round of 'this year was her last chance to get #1 and the OCC stole it from her!' followed by next November 'is this the year Mariah will finally get #1?', and repeat ad infinitum every year x

I surely hope so. I want it to get the Xmas #1 too, these Amazon exclusives and charity singles snatching the Xmas #1 then disappearing from the face of the earth really irk me.

it could be quite funny if it was now #1 all of December except fort the Xmas chart
I think she's be #1 for sure on the 11th and the 18th... maybe also on the 4th as Ariana is gonna do 35K only if even but I reckon on the 25th Ladbaby will grab the #1 |
