November 23, 201014 yr Author Question 1 - Name a country which was part of the Soviet Union (USSR), excluding Russia This is where Borat has an effect with Kazakhstan doing rather better than it would have done without his influence. It picked up several votes before the pendulum swung decisively in favour of Ukraine. There may be a reason why that country did so well, I just don’t know what it is. Some people seem to have confused the Soviet Union with the Soviet bloc and went for Slovakia (part of Czechoslovakia, there’s a clue in the name) and Montenegro (part of Yugoslavia). Two people went for China (communist but never part of the Soviet bloc, let alone the Soviet Union). The worst answer though was Iceland (Kuki) which has never even been communist. Severin seems to have had a blackout and didn’t provide an answer at all. Perhaps surprisingly, everybody at least managed to name a song recorded by The Beatles even if some were not released as a single (Twist and Shout which was only on an EP and spent 21 weeks on top of the EP chart) or didn’t make number one (Yesterday - only released as a single in 1976, Let It Be). Yellow Submarine and DEleanor Rigby shared a double a-side but count as separate songs here. November 23, 201014 yr FYI it is nothing to do with Borat that I voted for Kazakhstan and I find it highly offensive that anyone should suggest it that way. I genuinely thought Kazakhstan would be the top answer, Ukraine winning it by such a landslide seems a bit WTF to me I went with She Loves You as it's The Beatles' highest selling single but I really should have put Hey Jude on reflection :P Edited November 23, 201014 yr by What's My Name?
November 23, 201014 yr I was surprised by how overwhelmingly Ukraine won it. It was literally the first answer that came up in my head :o I thought it could be the most popular answer as well! Surprised nobody said 'Russia' :(
November 23, 201014 yr Author Question 3 Name a former manager of the England football team Whoever knew Sven Göran Eriksson was so popular? The Swede runs away with this as easily the most popular answer. Try as they might some members seem unable to forget that Graham Taylor, Kevin Keegan and Steve McClaren have all had a go at managing England. Sadly, the late Bobby Robson only picks up a couple votes and there are none at all for the man who won the World Cup. A former England captain (David Beckham) picks up a vote as does the current German manager, Joachim Löw. Pavel seems to think David Blaine (the git wizard) has managed England while Bert thinks Princess Diana held the job. Much as she may have enjoyed spending time in the England changing room, she didn’t.
