I dont understand Biffy Clyro, why would you release the original as a anti X factor single if you gave permission for the X factor to use it in the first place :???:

it seems to be more the people on Facebook than any people on the official Biffy forums, majority there are steering clear of it because they don't really see the point. Of course plenty think the cover is inferior, his voice doesn't suit it and that key change just really cheapens it, but there isn't any "lets beat the XF" threads on there with the only thread really just being a discussion one shocked that the XF would use a Biffy song as the winners one

I expect the guys from Biffy probably knew this would cause a backlash with "fans" and have people campaigning to put the original song in the charts but the band themselves haven't exactly encouraged anything like that

They don't deserve Xmas Number One if they don't get how the chart works and don't believe real sales instead believe their own made up fake sales.

Anyone who posts the truth gets called a troll and gets hate.

I actually feel sorry for them, they're so incapable of accepting the truth

The guy actually posted a link to The Guardian that clearly states: according to the Official Chart Company. Not according to Ryan Water's source or an 'insider', The Official Chart Company.

They are also spreading a new lie now to get their hopes up

"MAJOR FAIL. Joe had sold more than Matt by this time last year. And 1000s couldn't buy it last year because of the snow."

Major fail yourself sonny:

Tue: .RATM 83.0k, ..Joe 77.0k

Wed: RATM 175.1k, Joe 109.7k

...Thu: .RATM 253.0k, Joe 216.0k

...Fri: ...RATM 306.1k, Joe 297.1k

Final: RATM 502.7k, Joe 450.8k

But whatever keeps you hoping, you believe that Official chart company figures are fake, that some spreadsheet shows you on 98k and not the reality 44k and and a 200,000 gap to make up

Never come across so many disbelieving numpties. Gives the ones who just wanted a bit of fun a VERY bad name.

165988

That's 1 unit less than yesterday (165989) err... where are the physicals :heehee:

Maybe it was people "completing the album" and iTunes/OCC deducting a sale fom him. Oh wait, Matt doesn't have an album and is outselling Bird 4:1 still on downloads and probably double that with his physicals added in. Doh!!!!!

The delusion continues:

"in last few mins official charts tweeted: Hi, as of yesterday Surfin' Bird has sold 44,000 units" to a bird fan

and the response:

Lee Rose:It's false information, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE

NO. HOPE. FOR.THEM.

People like that are beyond help seriously. I'll be waiting on Sunday for them to declare Reggie is lying when the song places at 3.

And when we get the sales information showing Matt on 500K ish and Bird lucky to make 100k we will of course be 'making it up'

Same person:

"Don't believe it, they are doing this too put us off, I really don't think we've sold that less. It's way up high I reckon"

Lee Rose has overtaken Ryan whatshisface as chief deluded Birdbrain.

Yes of course it's way up high Lee, of course it is.

To think I was told off on another forum for calling them deluded when they're 'only trying to inject some fun' Deluded is actually being kind!

No doubt they will coin it in. So the whole "anti single" is just more press bullsh*t, The Guardian = w*nkers.

This is actually the first time I have seen how Biffy look now there own video for the song is being played on some video channels. They would never stop their own version being used. Leonard Cohen even admitted that he had lost a great deal of money due to a dodgy manager so appreciated Hallelujah selling so much in 2008 although not sure he was ever keen on that version.

Is it just me, or does the figure of 245k seem a bit inaccurate given how it seems to be sold out everywhere?? Or is it just that they didn't anticipate this demand??

If you looked up deluded in the dictionary it would literally contain an arrow pointing you to a thesauraus and the phrase "loony bin" with a picture of ryan whatisface next to it.

It could be:-

(a) they've sold out, in which case if they can replenish stock sufficiently over the next 2 days, sales will continue to be extremely healthy by the end of the week;

(B) outlets supplying physicals have decreased / demand for physicals (even X Factor winner's singles) have decreased since last year - have any shops that sell physicals closed since Dec 09?

© There's missing data in the midweek update today from some shops that sell physicals.

I'd be tempted to plump for a combination of (a) and (B) though, although I can't fully rule out © as even although I would expect to see a drop in the % of physical sales for Matt when compared with Joe, I am struggling to believe that Matt sold approx 40k physicals when Joe probably shifted around 80k. :o (particularly when Matt has been outselling Joe by approx 50% so far, for it to swing completely the other way for physicals is just not believable to me).

Black Eyed Peas higher than Ellie Goulding? Are people actually serious?

I don't claim to be an expert on the charts, and I don't really care one way or another who gets to number one - I don't watch X-Factor and I don't know who (or what) the Trashmen are - but I already know who is getting the number 1 single, and album, just by looking at the bookies odds.

People will say that the bookies don't always get it right, and that would be true in a two horse race where the odds are pretty much 'Even', but when they are offering odds of 10/1 on 'The Trashmen' and only 1/33 on the 'X-Factor' chappie (on a Thursday!), then it's 'GAME OVER!'.

P.S. - I put £200 on Take That to be Xmas No.1 ALBUM this monday at 1/2 (they are now 1/10!), based on my 'investigations', so I will be picking up £300 next week! :dancing:

Midweek Total Sales	Daily Sales	Physicals Downloads % physicals

Tuesday 112,000 112,000 0 112,000 0%

Wednesday 167,000 55,000 5,000 50,000 9%

Thursday 245,000 78,000 40,000 38,000 51%

Midweek Total Sales	Daily Sales	Physicals Downloads % physicals

Tuesday 77,000 77,000 0 77,000 0%

Thursday 216,000 106,300 80,000 26,300 75%

The % split for physical/downloads is estimated based on first calculating the expected tail off in downloads from Wednesday->Thursday and then allocating the remaining proportion as physicals.

If that works, then the physical sales for Matt (40,000) and Joe (80,000) look very odd!!!

Do you mean Rihanna?

Wait so Matt expected to sell than Joe? :o This is quite shocking really. I don't think that will happen though.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say "I put £200 on Take That to be Xmas No.1 ALBUM".

Changing the subject slightly. The xmas no1 is a coveted spot due to the high number of sales, this is supposedly based on people buying singles as presents for relatives & vice versa.

Have you ever been given the chrstmas no1 single as a present & did you like it?

Interesting :D

A... Must be some missing sales.

B... Barcode product problem.

C... Lack of stock not getting thru, with adverse snow weather permitting

D... Shopping online is cease (Scotland ;) )

I'm swaying towards point B

Bon Jovi back in the top 10 albums

Looks likely now that take that the flood will stay top 10 in the singles  :cheer:

if you are probing towards the point of Joe and Matt's sales, then you could also say that The Climb oversold last year due to the RATM camapign as it probably never would have got 450k without the multibuying and all the stuff that went on

but then again you could also mention the factor of the snow on the Friday and Saturday which decreased the possiblities of physical CD sales which could happen this time around. The only thing you can guarantee is that nobody will be that close to Matt's sales compared to last year's No1 and No2
