Could anybody post figures of the average weekly percentage declines in sales of the X Factor winner's singles?

And, whoever does get year-end #1, will, statistically be in the top 10 in the decade-end chart! Such a weird thought, that in December 2019 we'll be listening to the decade-end top 100 on Radio 1, and probably be hearing songs like We No Speak Americano, Airplanes, Everybody Hurts and When We Collide (since on average, 10 songs from each year would be in the top 100, but that obviously depends on whether sales increase or decrease throughout the decade), in amongst the lead single from Lady Gaga's 5th album, Eminem's collaboration with Mariah Carey and the Black Eyed Peas's comeback single in 2018 after their 7 year hiatus.. Who knows what could happen!?

I probably won't be interested in chart music by 2019 though.

But yeah, anybody know what the previous X Factor singles had sold week on week? Do the sales usually halve each week or something?

Is it possible that Matt's physical boost may come in tomorrow's update given his visit to HMV??

We sold out today, it's flying out faster than any bird :kink:

Getting more in tomorrow hopefully, they must literally be pressing, printing, boxing, sending out so many a day.

But the bold bit is why I think these campaigns aren't working, in effect we're being told what to buy again - not only by Simon Cowell - but now people we don't even know

My thoughts exactly. I really don't understand the need for a group of people to say "don't buy that song, you're letting yourself be told what to buy! Buy this instead even if you don't like it!" I could understand it more perhaps if they were pushing for actual Christmas songs (or charity singles) to get to number 1, but they're not so it's pretty pointless to me.

I enjoy watching the X Factor but just because I have favourites doesn't mean I suddenly feel compelled to buy anything (I've never voted for any of the acts or bought any of their singles or albums). I'm also a fan of Family Guy and like the Surfin' Bird song, but if I really wanted it I would have bought it when I first heard it and not because strangers are campaigning for it.

Thanks Spiidey, pity there's no sales.

There's all kinds of ridiculous figures flying about now, would be nice to know what the real figures are!

I think it's certain now the top 3 now will be the same on Sunday in order, Trashmen's bar isn't significantly growing on iTunes and as for the number 1, they will easily be a good 250, 000 behind now.

Try telling the most stubborn facebookers that though who believe the reason why the bookies have closed the betting on the race is not because Matt is on an odds certainty like most assume from doing that but it's because they are "scared"

to be fair to them they aren't all like that and a few have started to realise the gap is just too big now unfortunately the most vocal ones are the ones that come out with the silliest statements like iTunes is fixed and Cowell has ordered a media blackout, it's not the majority of them by a long shot but there's a fair few who genuinely believe that.

I saw someone make a good point earlier, that a lot of the 600,000 members might well have joined thinking it would be a battle against The Wands, I think more might have bought against the teen army in that case!

So the race is almost certainly won the question is where will Matt come in the x factor table of winners single opening sales?

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry that you think I was genuinly being an iLoon.

There will be alot of unhappy people on Buzzjack if Matt gets the year end best seller. It could still happen if he manages 500k this week.

Come on Matt!

Why would anyone buy Matts single? He is nothing more than a pub singer. I just don't get it. Meh. I hope The X Factor is cancelled now anyway. The last 2 series have been so $h!t

Why would anyone buy anything? Why are we here? I just don't get it!

I think what annoys most people about the X-Factor winners song is how the original versions - which are always superior - never perform as well as the karaoke cover version released by the winner. It's a real demonstration of the power of hype and promotion - when you think about it, TXF is really just a four month advert for SyCo.

I think I disagree, I love Kelly Clarkson but much prefer Leona's version of A Moment Like This.Leonard Cohen's version of Hallelujah is great but just not for me but love Alexandra's version.Matt has done a good job with the Biffy song but the original is better.Leon could never do When you Believe justice and less said about Steve Brookstein the better.
