Crikey No 1 already but good on him his best song by far.

Wow! Around 9 he was like 245 and now after only 4 hours is number 1!!! Massive climb! :o :D

What was the highest climb to number 1?

What was the highest climb to number 1?

Do you mean 'fastest' climb to number 1?

If so, I think it was either Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love or Alexandra Burke - Bad Boys? Not 100% sure.

Yep sorry!

Thanks!

Just wondering the slowest climb to number 1 (and eventually peaking at number 1 in the official charts)?

Killing In The Name I'd imagine, not sure that's what you mean though...

Nice climb to number 1 but the sales are low this week so...

I mean a song for example released on Sunday, and climbs to number 1 let's say on Thursday and eventually on Sunday is the official number 1! Hope you get what i mean :)

Maybe for last week sales were low but if Bruno Mars pulls ahead and developes a massive lead on iTunes pop bars by middle of the week, then 'Grenade' could be looking at decent opening week sales.

100k for Grenade this week? Can't think of much that's gotten to #1 before the chart show starts that hasn't done that, does anyone know when "Written In The Stars" got there?

Gettin' Over You by David Guetta and Fergie from last year took off VERY slowly for a song that "debuted" at #1 officially. It only entered the top 20 on Monday afternoon, then entered the top 10 Tuesday afternoon. Even on Wednesday morning it was only #4 on iTunes, and then got to #1 Thursday morning, I believe.

And I know someone will tell me this as if I didn't remember, so I put "debuted" because it actually charted at #41 the previous week due to a "remix" being cherry-picked from David Guetta's album.

And, again, I know someone will tell me this as if I didn't remember, so I put "remix", because technically the single version was the remix, and the album version being cherry-picked was the original, but in terms of the chart, they kind of got flipped-around, so to speak, and the remix got treated as the main version.

That was a good chart battle, because most of us genuinely had no idea who would be #1. Even on the Friday, everybody was saying B.o.B. and Bruno Mars were obviously going to be #1 (although I don't blame them, since Gettin' Over You had, indeed only been in the top 10 on iTunes for like 2 days, let alone #1), and then on the Sunday it got leaked who was #1, and everybody was desperate to find out. I kind of figured out it must've been David Guetta who got #1 when I heard it was leaked on Twitter, because B.o.B. and Bruno Mars had gotten #1 a couple of weeks before, so I figured they wouldn't care enough to announce it on Twitter, especially since they didn't really seem to care the first time, and I thought David Guetta would be more likely to care since the UK was the first country where Gettin' Over You got to #1.

Wow GREAT for Grenade, such an amazing song !

And at least we shouldn't have 'Do it like a dude' at #1 :cheer:

Eugh, Bruno Mars again :puke2:

I want Jessie amazing J to be #1 :(

Wow interesting! I suppose it had a huge lead the following days either Nothing on You didn't sell much previous days! It would be amazing to see a song rose to number 1 on late Friday or Saturday and with a HUGE lead be number 1! That would be something i would like to see

Yeah, that would be interesting. If X Factor was shown on Friday evenings, I could possibly imagine something like that happening. For a song to do that it'd need some massive promotion to happen in the weekend, and the X Factor is the only thing I can think of that can promote a song so well in a short period of time.

I remember Bruno Mars's lead went absolutely massive after the song was performed on the X Factor by Matt, but he'd already been #1 on iTunes most of the week anyway, but his pop bar did increase by like 50%! :o

Am glad that RiRi will finally get a #1 with WMN tonight officially
Nice climb to number 1 but the sales are low this week so...

Sales aren't low anyone in January :D

Good for Bruno Mars!
