Retro thanks to Chartstats

SLY will be the first non-XF song to have 3 weeks at #1 since Good Times :D

Hopefully Breakage has stayed top 30, Noah And The Whale have climbed in and Tiësto & Co. are at least #14.

Also looking forward to Reggie's reaction to The Hype Squad being top 40 :D Shame Wiz Khalifa seems to be under-performing so far, hopefully it'll do a We No Speak Americano if it doesn't hurry up and get #1 this week...

Why was It Wasn't Me so massive again? It's a good song but not the sort of song I'd expect to sell anywhere near 1 million

Manics had 2 new entries in the top 10? :o Or is that an error?

EDIT: It's not an error! :o Why did they release 2 singles that week?

It Wasn't Me just hit the right note at the right time - It sold over 1.2 million copies! It was a hit in the USA as well.

Its no error ref the Manics, they released 2 songs on the same day :D

What a week, "Pass Out", "No Tomorow" and "It Wasn't Me" all entering. All songs that helped define their respective years :D
It Wasn't Me always surprised me aswell... I loved that song, but I was astounded when I saw its sales figures! :o Like with all of the massive-selling songs recently, I can think of reasons why they sold that much (on top of people thinking they're musically good).

Sales were massive then as well - at one point Atomic Kitten, Shaggy, Westlife and Hear'say were all selling massive amounts every week - in fact 2 went on to sell over a million and the other 2 are close!

I was blown away when hearing It Wasn't Me for the first time. I was only 12 and EVERYONE in school was singing it. It was catchy, funny and everyone just knew it'd be massive. Good video too. Even my Dad liked it and he was 41 at the time. The reason I think it seems weird it was so massive now is that it has no airplay anymore and people often forget about it. I was absolutely buzzing when it came on during Radio 2's million sellers countdown.

2001 wins in a big way

It Wasn't Me was the highest selling non-charity/reality/novelty release of the 2000s wasn't it? One of only two million sellers that didn't fit one of those categories as well, along with Kylie's CGYOOMH. (Obviously Crazy, I Gotta Feeling and Sex On Fire have also passed a million since the end of 2009)

Excellent Retro weeks this week. Mind is blown that Shakira got to the top 10 with 'Don't Bother' - i thought it was a massive flop  My brother bought "It's Chico Time". And "No Tomorrow", "Thunder in My Heart" and "Sorry" were the first ever songs I downloaded from iTunes Magical times indeed

And big up to the Furtado  and the Samantha Mumba track, can we just turn back time and listen to one of these retro charts again?
