Some of the early ones are not there, which I haven't bothered with.

So far... Adele has done the double for the past 3 weeks

Ooh, thank you for posting this :D

I didn't realise there was a nearly 4 year gap between two doubles in 1997-2001. With Hanson on one end and Limp Bizkit on the other

I also never knew Tony Christie did the double twice in 2005

Didn't think James Blunt has done it in 5 weeks. :o

Most that I heard that have done double have been for 1 week (2008-present) so I'm actually surprised there has been tons that did more than 1 week.

Great list, cheers as everyone asking about it this week. So a few 4+ weekers and 6 appears to be the joint record. Wonder if adele can this week, hope so.

Nice to see the babes there twice ;-)

Right Said Fred managing it :puke2:

Tony Christie certainly had a revival when Amarillo came out and his album

Lol, I wonder if anyone will ever beat The Beatles total weeks.

You have to say that's an impressive record by The Beatles.

Mart!n - There are a few errors in your List:,

1) Meatloaf did not achieve it for 5 consecutive Weeks in 1993.

His 1993 Entries should be:,

30/10/1993 3 Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell // I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)

27/11/1993 2 Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell // I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)

2) Wet Wet Wet did not achieve it for 5 consecutive Weeks in 1994.

Their 1994 Entries should be:,

30/07/1994 4 Wet Wet Wet End Of Part One (Their Greatest Hits) // Love Is All Around

03/09/1994 1 Wet Wet Wet End Of Part One (Their Greatest Hits) // Love Is All Around

3) You have the Cheryl Cole Entry, (2009), the wrong way round. It should be '3 Words' 1st,,

& 'Fight For This Love' 2nd. (The Album is always shown before the Single).

...and Adele?

Bray - My List does not show which Acts have managed the

'Double Top' for more than 1 Week. It shows which Acts - on

totally separate occasions - have managed it more than once

Adele has 'only' managed it once - for 3 Weeks. (This does not

mean she has managed it 3 times - she has managed it once).

That is how Guinness used to count the Feat - and The OCC count

it that way too. As do I.

Here is the List of the Acts who've achieved it for the most Weeks.

This List has all of the Acts who've managed it for 5 - or more - Weeks.

Since The Beatles did it, for 5 consecutive Weeks, (in December 1963

to January 1964), the only Acts to have the Double Top, for as many as

5 Weeks in a row, are Celine Dion, (1995), & James Blunt, (2005).

MOST WEEKS WITH THE DOUBLE TOP

1) The Beatles - 45 Weeks (15 Times)

2) Elvis Presley - 22 Weeks (7 Times)

3)=The Shadows - 13 Weeks (7 Times)

3)=ABBA - 13 Weeks (4 Times)

Very impressive from The Beatles.

A total of 45 weeks trounces Elvis at #2.

...and Adele?
This is Adele's first number 1 single (and album?) so how can she have done it more than once?
  • 2 years later...
So The Beatles were number 1 in the singles chart for 69 weeks, for almost two thirds of those weeks they were also number 1 in the LP chart (as it would have been called then). Only Elvis Presley (80) & Cliff Richard (46) have been number one in the singles chart for more weeks individually than the 45 weeks the Beatles did the double.

Didn't Olly do the double with Troublemaker/Right Place Right Time?

Or was it Dance With Me Tonight/In Case You Didn't Know?

Or was it Dance With Me Tonight/In Case You Didn't Know?

Yes, we should have added that at the time. I'll update it now :D

16/02/2012 1 Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band - Sing / Sing
Should be 16th of June, not February, I think? B-)
