Sounds like the 2011 biggest sellers list is going to be a lot of fun then  Nothing cheesy or annoying on it from what I'm guessing at the moment

No, nothing cheesy I don't think (although a few songs I hate, but they're not full-on novelty).

From memory, the top 10 so far includes Someone Like You, Price Tag, Party Rock Anthem, Grenade, Rolling in the Deep, The Lazy Song, Give Me Everything, and some other things which I forgot. And Sweat by Snoop Dogg is the #11.

Ah, so the deluxe BTB is still counted separately. Hopefully that doesn't stop it from being #1 next week...

#88 isn't too bad for BTB (song) :D Hopefully she will have 8 songs top 100 and at least 2 top 40 next week.

WE'RE THEIR SALES NOT COMBINED WHEN IT WAS RELEASED?

(35) Tinnie Tempah-One Day

I guess this we'll be the US follow-up to "Written In The Stars". Just my thought

Up 10 places :o

It was #27 in the Almost saturday chart.

Seriously? Peak at one? Something even the author/singer called 'lazy' ? Meh...

I know. I still can't believe it go to #1! :o Just seems so insignificant for a #1. The only cultural impact it seems to have had is radio overplay.

The Big Top 40 Show uses live iTunes charts for its top 10, and includes airplay from commercial radio stations for #11-#30.

So the charts can end up quite different sometimes. On the Big Top 40 Show they get all sorts of weird thing happening. Songs sometimes chart twice in the same chart, for example. And if a song falls out of the top 10 on iTunes during the show, it doesn't chart at all.

Or, to put it another way, the Big Top 40 is irrelevant rubbish, and is of no interest to fans of the sales chart.

The Almost Saturday Chart means absolutely nothing, in regards to the official chart.

And a talked about video which IS important!!

WERE THEIR SALES NOT COMBINED WHEN IT WAS RELEASED?

No. On at least one occasion both were top 10 in the same week. Albums that were not combined before the OCC changed their rules on re-releases remain separated through a sort of 'grandfather clause'.

From a chart point of view it's not very useful.

But from a listening point of view, it can be nice. They play 50 songs in the 3 hours aswell, since they play the top 10 at the beginning, and at the end again (although the top 10 is different both times). There's none of the pointless games like on Radio 1. And the commentry between each song is rather brief, and usually relevent (they sometimes mention if a song is doing really well in another country, for example).

Thought thats why she had the biggest selling album of that particular year!!

so what ive read is just another hype

i thought itunes counted towards the BBC Top 40

well according to the Big Top 40 show, 6 songs are re-entering their charts today: Quote

There's already a battle for the top spot as The Wanted try to hold on for a third week and hold back tomorrow's big new release from JLS but now the boy bands could get pushed aside by Amy's 2007 hit 'Back To Black'.

As of 11pm on Saturday 'Back To Black' had already made its way in to the top 30 with 'Rehab', 'Tears Dry On Their Own', 'Love Is A Losing Game' and 'You Know I'm No Good' and her collaboration with producer Mark Ronson, 'Valerie' following not too far behind.

The chart covers 168 hours (ie. a week = 24x7 = 168). Is it really so hard to understand how the last seven hours of that week are not going to have much impact on the 161 hours of sales that have already been clocked up?
