There is more to this site than Joe McElderry threads.

Congratulations on stating the obvious, but considering your irrational hatred of everything he does, and unwillingness to let his fans enjoy what success he has, I thought it odd that you moaned about people being negative in here.

I've not noticed you being all that irrationally and hypocritically negative in other threads, so I do apologise if there are others I should have listed.

So I'll rephrase the question - is there a reason why you only apply the "it's pathetic to be so negative" philosophy to some artists, but not others?

 His fans can enjoy his little bit of success all they want.

I do believe I said being negative to get a laugh out of people is pathetic, different thing.

So you weren't trying for a laugh when you said singing opera didn't require talent and anyone could sing it? It gave me a good laugh.

Well I am happy that robots have the ability to laugh now :D Well done.

I love Matt. But I don't love this. Dull Dull Dreary Dull :( :( :(

It's not a patch on the songs he wrote on the Seven Summers album. Maybe they should have left him to write his own stuff rather than get all these 'professional' co-writers involved.

Oh and the video is crap too.

Meh. I'm getting old and grumpy. I seem to hate most things these days.

It's not GREAT by any means, but I wouldn't say it's a bad song at all. It's exactly what you'd expect for his proper debut single - an entirely inoffensive and vaguely pleasant soft rock power ballad. The annoying thing about it will be exactly what was the annoying thing about Matt in the first place - something ALRIGHT which gets wholly overrated and treated as something 'real' and 'so authentic' when it isn't at all.

If I'm totally honest - I'd rather a song made me feel one way or the other about it. Either HATE it or LOVE it - a song that brings out a strong emotion either way is better than a 'meh' song. This is one of those 'meh' songs - its neither fish nor fowl! Its just 'meh'. Bah humbug! Like Jupiter - I'm just getting old and grumpy ... or in my case - a lot older and a lot grumpier.

You know I really cannot stand Gary Barlow these days - but I honestly did think he'd come up with something better than this. I know he usually saves his best songs for Take That (well apart from Progress anyway) and leaves the dregs for other artists (I'm thinking of his songs for John Barrowman and that bird from Strictly Come Dancing) but this song for Matt is going to get quite huge promotion - so he's exposing the weaker of his song-writing skills to a larger number of people. I thought he'd be wise enough to have something at least on a par with Patience. This is more on a par with 'Do What You Want' only not as much fun.

Maybe if Matt had have exposed his arse and utilised some jelly and mops the video could have made the song more interesting. He could always have also kept his hat on!

Jupiter - if you're reading this - this could be a baaaa-aaaad omen for Rob's album if the songs Gary's co-writing with him are on the same level as this!

GB was involved in this one? :o

I had no idea. I only heard about Guy Chambers and ex- Fame Academy David Sneddon being involved in co-writing the new album.

Oh dear :(

He wrote it :P its the only track on the album Matt didn't have a writing credit on.

Really? :o

Oh, well. Maybe there's hope for the rest of the album then.

Indeedy.

Well I love this song, but I imagine the rest of the album will be even better :D

Upon first listen I found it a bit bleh and boring. But as it got into the song I was finding myself liking it quite a bit. Sounds like a grower! Definitely getting Snow Patrol vibes from it. So my dad will probably overplay this to death when he hears it ha!

1.30 previews up for the b-sides of Run For Your Life on itunes now. I love the sound of both of them (I would though)

Chemical sounds fab.

I heard this for the first time today and I found it so boring and underwhelming for a lead single from an X Factor act. I actually turned it over to the other music channel and watched Collide half way through because it was so dull - and many on here know what I think about Collide.

Maybe Run For Your Life will grow on me. But there has to be a seed to grow.

It sounds AMAZING

Starlight sounds like a potential single from that clip.

I have to say the previews have got me excited about this. Sounds quite promising!

This song is much better than 'When We Collide'.

Is Matt preforming on the X Factor Live Finals Stage?

Okay i've previewed all the tracks and they are all better then Run For Your Life? Confused.

Looking forward to hearing the whole album completely though. :D

He'll be on the first live show of X Factor, so only a matter of weeks away.
