an 8k lead is a pretty solid start, I think Olly has number 1 in the bag unless Calvin does a dramatic overtake during the week on Itunes or something, either way, should see some good sales for them both :D I do hope Noel can hold top 10, would be great to see another guitar act in there (IF the B-side sales are meant to be combined with the A Side, then he should gain some additional sales)

How strange regarding the American Idol acts  hopefully that will be fixed

Will Young should have some good sales if its on 20k already (that's only 10k less than Nero's overall sales last week :o ), I honestly never thought I'd see Joe McElderry that high again, just another indicator about how terrible Syco are at managing acts...

Not insulting, simply stating facts.. her debut single barely made it into the top 40, and her second one is hardly setting the music channels or the radio alight. Let me just add I actually LIKE both songs, but it is highly unusual the way success usually eludes most members of a band when they split up/ have a break with a few exceptions.. Ronan in Boyzone, Robbie in Take That etc. Could Nicole be doing a Nadine? She might not even reach those dizzy heights.. ;)

It's not "facts" to say to someone it's a joke to support an artist. Only because her first single bombed doesn't mean her fans have to turn their back on her

I wasn't saying the SUPPORT of the artiste was a joke, I meant her CHART POSITIONS and how it must be funny in a dark sort of way about how poorly she's faring compared to say, Cheryl Cole. I think you taking this a mite too seriously. Sit down and have a nice cup of tea. B)

So Will is looking good to do about 50k+ this week then! I still need to download the album and give it a spin. Really pleased to see 'Jealousy' do so well, too! Easily his best single to date for me.
How bizzare the two WORST Idol contestants from last season have shown up with two performances from their time on Idol  Deffo an error, as has been said! It could've at least been Lauren :(

great stuff for will young!! a top3 single and a number 1 album would be a tremendous achievement!

also cant believe how well joe mcelderry is doing! might even outsell and outchart wide awake

Great to see The Game in the top 10! :D

About B-sides that charted, there was Use Somebody by Pixie Lott, which got to #41. :drama:

So glad Noel Gallagher is off to a good start with the debut single - although it'll be lucky to spend 3 weeks in the T40 - bearing in mind fans of Noel will most likely have purchased it this week.

Joe McElderry at #2 in the Albums Chart should come as a shock, but not when the state of the album sales is taken into consideration. Hopefully it's already peaked at sales in the first day of release, so Adele will reclaim the #2 spot. It's just a matter of whether Nero can hold a T5 placing and whether or not Wretch 32 will continue to sell well digitally and keep a T5 placement too.

Nero #1, Jessie J #2, The Vaccines #4, Wretch 32 #4, Clare Maguire #6, James Blake #9, Jamie Woon #15, The Naked and Famous #25, Anna Calvi #40, Mona #40 and Yuck #62 - not bad for the debut albums from the Sound of 2011.

Where's Nicole Scherzinger - Wet.

20+6

Reminds me of when an Agnes album track popped up in the midweeks accidentally one week, Big Blue Wall iirc! I wasn't complaining!

Seeing this list makes it even more baffling that Ed Sheeran wasn't included.

Whilst the artists above haven't exactly gone on to perform greatly, can you actually say any of them have even underperformed? The only one you could really argue would be Claire Maguire, none of the others were ever really going to sell much more than they have, although 'Young Blood' will always be a smash hit that never was.

Ironically Wretch 32 and Nero didn't even make the shortlist, yet I'd put them in the #2 and #3 positions for the most successful acts to have come from the sound of 2011 - behind Jessie J of course. Each of the three acts have had a #1 single, yet Nero is the only act to have collected a #1 album too.

I think the talent from this year's poll is far greater than that of 2010, although Delphic and Marina were both excellent additions the world of music.

16. Florence and the Machine 'What the Water Gave Me'

39. Wretch 32 ft. Josh Kumra 'Don't Go' [Album version]

92. Ke$ha 'Blow (Cirkut Remix)'

It's not always about sales. Anna Calvi for example has toured loads and has loads of critical acclaim...and has a following in a lot of european countries aswell as the Mercury prize nomination.

I will type up today's mids but I am very slow so hopefully someone else does it first

Really pleased to see Will doing so well with both the single and album. I honestly thought that the single was going to bomb.
