UK singer, Will Young, a politics graduate, shot to fame in 2002 as the winner of the first series of the UK reality TV programme, Pop Idol. Young racked up record-breaking advance orders of 1.2 million for his debut single, the double a-side, "Anything Is Possible/Evergreen". It went straight to the top of the charts in March, going on to become the best-selling single of the decade in the UK. Despite the poor critical reaction to his debut album, FROM NOW ON, Young won over his critics through sheer hard work, his constant touring helped maintain his media profile. The hard work paid off in December 2003, when the single "Leave Right Now"--written by original Brother Beyond member 'Eg' White--and his second album, FRIDAY'S CHILD, both topped the UK charts. Young's critical rehabilitation was complete by the time his third album, KEEP ON, was released--to favourable reviews--in November 2005. - HMV

Will held up a little bit better than I'd expected, very pleasing :D This is still growing on me somehow...

if downloading is the future, why can i still buy CD's in a shop ??

For the same reason that the introduction of CDs didn't lead to the immediate disappearance of vinyl from the shops.

 

actually wrong, when CDs appeared in shops in 1985, vinyl albums were still around until 1995, and not everyone bought CD's in the beginning, I began in 1988, yes only the rich could buy CD's at that point as they were expensive.

I thoroughly believe this to be Will Young's best ever song, it's amazing! :wub: Great album too.

I think this might be my favourite Will Young single. Only my second time hearing it and it's a massive grower.

Only a 3 places drop for Will, very good :wub:

At last some class, decent lyrics, good beat, love this song :)

Never liked breathy singers. It's like he's going to lose his voice any second.

Don't Go... another forgettable number 1.

Mass market, Pete - CDs are now a tiny amount of the singles market, as vinyl was back in the 90s to CDs.

A bit late, but I love Cover Drive. It's so amazingly catchy, especially when the female singer does the rapping.

 

Wretch 32.. can't this and Nero swap chart runs. Or something. Hopefully it'll be out of the top 10 next week.

I hate how as Wretch 32's singles have decreased in quality, his chart peaks have risen. Traktor was amazing, Unorthodox was good, but Don't Go is just meh.
