There's no way that can be accurate unless he knows the sales in each country, which he can't, so it's kind of pointless  .

I think it's based on iTunes and not sales.

While I would love Maroon 5 to get a week at least, I'd imagine Dappy could well be #1 next week

Why?

He estimates what the #100 sells in each country's iTunes, and then bases the whole thing on that. So it's not pointless really.

And how can he possibly know that on any given day

He'd need to know the percentages of iTunes downloads sold on each day in each country, not to mention accounting for time differences, etc.

Any global pop bar that site comes up with is totally made up.

Why?

Why do I think Dappy could be #1? Because its a good song, getting mass airplay plus like other songs recently, has been held back months so will be incredibly front loaded, wouldn't surprise me if it gets close to 100k actually but we will see

Was performed by someone on The Xtra Factor, don't know where else though.

Dappy is really not a good song, but I agree it could do well because it's the sort of thing that appeals to singles buyers/chavs

Anyway Coldplay already at #37 :o And Dolly Parton is #40, I would love to see her go official top 40 this week just to hear what Reggie would say about it  Also so Cher has a new record to break when The Greatest Thing is released

Such a shame that they are On air/on sale and on Monday... maybe maybe top 10 and will disappear... I'm worried about the new album sales. however it's a Great song .

Looks like a pretty boring chart this week. I can see the current top five being the official top five on Sunday (in that order), although I think Olly might overtake The Sats.

17. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

33. Coldplay

50. Kasabian  (EP is #6 on albums chart)

Three rock entries into the top 40 looking pretty certain this week then. Add that to a pop #1 which pleasingly borrows more from rock than any other genre and I'm actually pretty satisfied for once.

Apart from One Direction and Delilah most of the new entries are Indie/rock related, all we need is the Kooks to enter the chart at some point... Noel, Kasabian, Coldplay, not holding out much hope for the Kooks though since their album is released this week as well.
I first properly heard 1D's track today and it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be-nice rocky feel to it. It still isn't good enough to warrant the massive sales it's certain to get this week however....

Setting Maroon 5 @ 100%, Pixie is at 80.48%, so 20% behind Maroon 5 (or, Maroon 5 are 24% ahead of Pixie), so I suppose Pixie is gaining if she was 30% behind Maroon 5 on Saturday.

I still wouldn't be sure that The Saturdays will remain top 5 officially this week - they will start the week off top 5 officially but I reckon they'll drop as the week goes on.

Leona might have an outside chance of sneaking up even higher on iTunes at some point now that the weekend effect is wearing off - but given #6 is 12% ahead and #5 20% ahead, it looks unlikely.
