How is Jessie J a one-hit wonder?

jessie j is an example of a new artist if you read it again!

OK, i miss read! You should of put "respectively". Theirs no need to be rude.

I personally thought Party Rock Anthem being #1 for 4 weeks was boring, although I know you all enjoyed it. You know, massive chart battle for #1 each week during that time...

That said, it's true that most of the biggest hits are actually on air, on sale. From this year, there's Born This Way, Someone Like You, S&M, Give Me Everything, Party Rock Anthem, for example. And last year there was When We Collide, Love the Way You Lie, Airplanes, Telephone, Rude Boy. So it can be a success. But would easily make the charts more boring to follow imo.

Maroon 5 would probably be on their 6th week at #1 or something ridiculous if everything was on air, on sale, out-selling all competition each week by 2:1.

clearly though moves like jagger is the biggest hit of the past month consistently selling and rising in sales every week whereas alot of other one weekers at no1 have fallen away because the pent up demand for the song meant they peaked high but after week 2 sales fall due to alot of people having downloaded it illegally when they first heard the song.

also the charts would have been alot different if all the songs being played on radio/tv were released OA/OS - one direction would still have got to no1 and alot of other would have rose to a high peak!!

i dont think it was rude...i told you to read my statement again because you misread it first time round.

Dappy is number 1 :(

Pleased for him a far better song than 1D, hope he holds on for at least 2 wks.

All I can hope is that Maroon 5 take over again quicker than they did the last few weeks but that's unlikely. Vile no.1. Although I better not say things like that in case Dappy finds my details and sends anonymous texts to me threatening my death :P

I apologise. Sometimes i read into things too much and take them as rude haha :)

id say that is because the biggest sales period is in 1/4 4 so most big artists release in oct-dec periods to get the xmas market.the same reason why jls/one direction/olly murs release a big uptempo summer hit in july-aug and then a slow autumnal ballad between sept-nov then the album in one of the weeks after in nov - so they get maximum album sales in the 6 week between the start of november and the first week of january.the first 6 months of the year are for newer artists and one hit wonders like jessie j and lmfao!!

So Adele is a new artist?

I can only guess Dappy is massively frontloaded, who is buying it? N-Dubz barely even crack the top10

On twitter, 1D fans are going into mass panic. Bless 'em :

Who is actually buying 'No Regrets'?!

people who actually have listened to the song, rather than going 'ew dappy! this is automatically terrible!' for a start.

My biggest problem with Dappy (apart from the fact he's talentless and has an awful personality) is that I always feel as if he just goes on about himself and how he's 'made it' in all his songs and it's annoying. Cue load of posters with examples of N-Dubz song that are NOT like this but I don't really care because they all sound the same to me.

no worries just didnt want you to think i was being rude :(

generally, not every artist that releases in the first 6 months are new artists, but adele is new enough - a comeback 2nd album is generally new, better releasing it in january rather than november!

I hope we have a new number one every week until Christmas just to show how pathetic the charts are at the moment.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we have an embarrassing situation where there are 52 brand new UK #1 singles in a calendar year. Wouldn't be at all surprised if that year was 2012 either. -_-

I don't :D

I've heard it 4 times in the past 2 days at work. Its not Dappy thats put me off it, its the cheesey lyrics, bad melody, keychange, and choir that make it think its one of the worst songs of the year.
