I think people just need to be more realistic with what they view as a success too. There's no way the level of sales say off the back of the show can be maintained. Longevity is what counts, Better to make 3 or 4 albums that sell 200k each than one that sells a million and then bomb. Also a lot of record labels have artists that sell much less than people Syco have dropped that are still making albums. The idea is to carve yourself a career not sell bucketloads short term and then move on to the next set of "stars".

This really. Only two post winner songs have gotton to no.1 (the ones by women). The other 4 (Steve didn't even get one) haven't been and only No Promises could be described as big. People have said all week 'Matt is a flop, more expectation comes with being an XF winner' when really-what were you expecting? Anyone who thought Matt had a chance at no.1 is completely loony and I'd have said the same for Joe last year and Leon in his year. As good as these artists may be, it was fairly obvious that they weren't going to do well. I still think Matt could do well in the albums next week (not no.1 though) but really, the expectations are way too high considering less than 50% of the post winner singles have gone to no.1 and now 2/3 have only gone top 3.
