December 15, 201114 yr Have the other Christmas songs vanished from the top 40 :o I would imagine they've just fallen a little.
December 15, 201114 yr Thursday Update Top 40 Only Singles Top 15 11 Mariah Carey 12 The Pogues/Kirsty MacColl The Pogues will surely retake the lead from Mariah by Sunday. :cheer:
December 15, 201114 yr Bre will be happy to hear about the Mariah/Pogues situation  Edited December 15, 201114 yr by Rob Summers
December 15, 201114 yr Hopefully Leona can hold top 5 until sunday, But its doubtfull she will probably end up #6 or #7! Glad Chers album is still holding on in top 40 :) Cher is probably selling 3000 copies per week :heehee:
December 15, 201114 yr I would imagine they've just fallen a little. Correct. Maybe I'll do an Xmas update tomorrow
December 15, 201114 yr I think he should be fine for a second album at least, Cher is recording her new album already and i think she sold less then Matt's..but i dont know i think every artist is treated differently.Cher was never going to sell that many albums. (obviously if she won they'd be a little higher, but not much higher I'd guess) She is definitely the sort of artist that will sell more singles and trickle sell her albums with future single releases. I'm surprised considering that 'With Ur Love' is now over and people seem to have calmed down about her at the moment, the album is still top 40. Excellent news. Hopefully it'll get higher if she manages to stay around whilst the Christmas albums fall and stuff.
December 15, 201114 yr Cher is probably selling 3000 copies per week :heehee: well if amy winehouse sold nearly 8k at number 50 odd last week I doubt Chers selling 3k in the top 40 do you? I think your forgetting its xmas dear sales for top 40 aint that low but thanks for feeling the needs to quote me ;)
December 15, 201114 yr Wish the Christmas songs had been kept at 59p for a little longer, was great to see them all high. All (bar The Pogues, who was never in that offer anyway) have taken sharp falls today. :( I hope they recover next week the closer we get to Christmas.
December 15, 201114 yr ^^ Indeed it will look ridiculous when the chart runs are written up - big rise then a fall then a small rise. 59p throughout december makes sense!!

I'm sure I read that it was 59p if bought from a Pogues compilation album, but not from the Christmas compilations.
December 15, 201114 yr Little Mix is only 80K ahead of Coldplay? I guess that with CD sales and Saturday shopping that will rise. I know they had the single right next to the counter in HMV here yesterday. Edited December 15, 201114 yr by Paramore
December 15, 201114 yr Author When you compare this week's chart to previous years, there is hardly any new material, the #1 track is a cover version, same for Leona, with 2 re-entries for En Vogue and Damian Rice, the chart is pretty bare with no decent releases. Anyhow I probably think Little Mix are crashing for just under 300k at close of business I can't really tell without knowing their physicals. Buble's album will plummet sales wise after Christmas, probably barely scraping 35k. No new albums hardly at the start of the new year, wouldn't surprise me if Coldplay or Adele will be the first #1 album in the new year.

December 15, 201114 yr MW's wording of Paradise 'more than doubling its sales from last week' doesn't seem that encouraging considering it was barely top 10 at this point last week and only sold 32k with a massive boost at the end of the week :drama: Saying 'more than double' implies it's not much more than double. Great to see an actual figure for MX anyway, definitely has a six-figure sale in the bag - Rebecca went from 95k on Friday to 128k overall, Coldplay should easily sell 9k+ today I'd think which will put them equal to or higher than Rebecca, so maybe 130k+ for the week is achievable? :D YES at Mariah out of the top 10 and The Pogues right on her tail :cheer: The Pogues are now ahead combined on iTunes so they should definitely re-overtake. Should have a decent shot at finishing the week with a climb too if it's up 2 from yesterday :D It'd be great for it to get at least #11 this week or next so it beats Mariah's peak. Mama Do The Hump top 30 :D It might go top 10 on iTunes by the end of the week at the rate it's going so hopefully it can manage a top 20 debut this week (well, a top 20 top 40 debut :kink:) Great to see Drake's album back in the top 40 today. I wonder what's causing the resurgence? I see the festive emoticons were added at some point during my absence yesterday :D Edited December 15, 201114 yr by Bré
December 15, 201114 yr Doubling Coldplay's sales for Paradise from last week leaves it at 66,000. So Little Mix realistically, at the half way point has no more than 150-180k right now.

I doubt Coldplay sold more on Tue+Wed than they did on Sun+Mon somehow. I think it means they've doubled their sales from this point last week (which as I said in my post doesn't sound that good). NU MARIAH. Except, you know, worse. Mariah never went near #1 once, let alone more than once
