If it had been "Skinny Love" or "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" next it would have been the perfect demonstration of why this horrible club banger / piano ballad fixation has to end. "Wherever You Will Go" still doesn't sound that terrible, maybe because I never liked the original much.

 

To be fair, the US rap club banger craze we've got going on is much worse.

 

Firstly, the songs are of far lower quality than the piano ballads, and secondly, there are many, many more of them. When you think about it, there's only been, maybe about 10 piano ballad hits in the past few years? Compared to probably 100 US rap-club bangers. If you look at the year-end top 40 of 2011, it's basically just Someone Like You and Jar of Hearts, but there's like 20 club bangers in there.

I quite liked this at the time it was released but it's got dull very quickly. Meh.

Still love 'Nothing's Real But Love.' I think it's refreshing for a song like this to come out of X Factor. I can see her doing a lesser scale of Christina Perri; a massive song that keeps selling well but other efforts will find it very hard to get into the top 40. It's a shame.

I seriously thought this was a Taio song - and that ISN'T a good thing. Oh why do people buy into this crap? :(

 

It's actually not in any way different to any of Taio Cruz's songs tbh. Or Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, etc. It's so awful. Thank goodness it's not by a well-known artist, or it probably would be getting to #1. :drama:

I love JOH but it needs to leave for 6 months before inevitably reappearing once XF9 kicks off.

 

Oh and so does 'We Found Love'. It's been the only good thing about the TTT era. I didn't buy her new album since it sounds so weak compared to the brilliance of Loud.

Why would she, she probably knows that she'll never have another huge hit so she might as well wring as much money out of Jar Of Hearts as humanly possible before getting on with her life touring tiny venues to a small but loyal fanbase to make a living! Vanessa Carlton, Sara Bareilles, Lisa Loeb, Paula Cole and 100 others can all relate.

We Found Love is still fantastic. I can't remember the last mainstream pop hit I never tired of like I have this? It must be years now.
