Too right!!! :w00t:

I must admit, when I first entered this into BJSC back in September, I genuinely never thought I'd ever see Gotye actually #1 in the UK. It was always wishful thinking but to see Gotye & Kimbra officially #1 is excellent.

So happy for Gotye!!! One of the best songs from last year for me and I am just so happy it is having such an impact in the UK. Fingers crossed this helps make Gotye and Kimbra (more Kimbra than Gotye for me tbh) more household names here.

No. I don't listen to Radio 1...ever!!! :D

Remember how happy you were when 'With Every Heartbeat' made #1? Well, I had that feeling last week with 'Titanium' and once again now with 'Somebody That I Used To Know'. ^_^

Ah, the feeling of pride! Having obsessed over Robyn's career from 1998 onwards (Swedish only releases et al), I was so happy to see With Every Heartbeat get to #1 in the UK! I could say the same about Sia, having followed her from close to day one too. I can't say that I've been following Gotye's career at all before this single so I don't get the same sense of 'pride', I'm just elated to see it at the top because it's such a great song!

It's happened to me a few times in the past - with Shakira's Hips Don't Lie, DJ Sammy's Heaven and The Corrs' Breathless (even if that wasn't my favourite single of theirs). I only wish Agnes' Release Me had gone two places higher and matched the top spot that it achieved on iTunes!

Since when? Let's not even start to speak about her live vocals.

They are better than she is given credit for.

Now I have been following Gotye for a few years and I'm just generally bewildered that he's somehow managed a UK #1 single. Makes me wonder how many other tracks I adore could actually manage to be successful if only they had any sort of radio/tv support at all.

That's just it. :D It's discovering a single via another country and ending up loving that so much for whatever reason. Then to see the track at #1 in your own countries chart. The fact said chart is the UK chart makes it all more astonishing. Never would've thought Gotye would be the type of artist who could get a UK #1. I didn't even feel this way when 'Fireflies' by Owl City went to #1.

There's just something unique about 'STIUTK'. Whether Gotye can capitalise on this with a second hit single is left to be seen. Let us enjoy this moment while it lasts.
