still in love with this song. I don't get how it's getting so much hate, it's a catchy pop song with a female vocalist. or are people just judging on their debut single again?

I love it too! :D One of my favourite songs in the chart. :)

I don't know why people hate it. I guess it sounds similar to a lot of other songs, so maybe because of that? And the lyrics are admittedly a bit cheesy (but that doesn't bother me).

Catchy song. I really liked their debut single, and this one is pretty good too. I think I prefer their debut, though. Not sure why tbh.

Thinking in terms of girl-groups, 'The Loving Kind' got to #10 and 'See the Day' and 'Can't Speak French' both got to #9 - they aren't memorable #9/#10 hits though. :P

Didn't 'Thriller' peak at #10 in the UK (or was that the US?) when it was released in 1984?

Yes, in the UK (late 1983 though).

Original chart run - Michael Jackson - Thriller - (28 Weeks) 19/11/1983 -24-{10}-11-16-12-13-13-11-12-18-27-37-44-52-60-70-74-75

yeah it did although it was something like the seventh single from the album, Mr Brightside also peaked at number 10 as did Teardrop by Massive Attack :o I'd imagine the former must be approaching to be the biggest selling number 10 hit

I hoped Wild Ones would have charted a bit higher, wasn't it at #3 on iTunes towards the end of the week? Hopefully it will re-peak. It's possibly his best second single yet (it just beats Sugar [i'm counting that as the second single] which is also great and features the underrated Wynter Gordon.)

Mr. Brightside made the year-end top 200 3 times apparently, despite its chart peak! :o

I prefer Good Feeling, but that was still good.
I can't think of a lot of iconic #9's now (not necessarily sales-wise) that I think of it :o (Coldplay - Clocks I guess)

Maybe not iconic but the list of #9s since 2009 has a LOT of fantastic songs on it IMO (bolded) (although a few on the opposite extreme as well, in strikethrough :P)

That's fantastic as in 'borderline obsession fantastic' by the way - I do really like a lot of the ones I haven't bolded as well but there seems to be a disproportionately high number of songs that go above that.

Ladies and gentlemen, Maverick "Messed Up Accent" Sabre. He's pretty good though. And quite hot
Wild Ones is so much better than Good Feeling, probably because it has Sia featured on it! It's also his third best single for me behind Club Can't Handle Me and Right Round.

I forgot about these two, both fantastic  I'd imagine their sales aren't too bad either

Blue Jeans

With a sultry, affecting voice, New York-born singer Lana Del Rey took the music world by storm at the end of 2011 with "Blue Jeans" and "Video Games." Born to Die became arguably the most anticipated album of 2012 as a result, demonstrating in long-player form just what Lana Del Rey was capable of. Single "Born to Die" is a typical example of her dramatic brand of pop music. - HMV

My Valentine

Paul McCartney's first full-length studio album in four years, Kisses on the Bottom is a collection of vocal standards -- the first of its kind in his discography. The son of a '20s bandleader, McCartney no doubt heard many of these songs while growing up, and this album shows a special kinship between singer and song that goes far beyond the many songbook collections attempted by others of his generation. Produced by jazz and vocal associate Tommy LiPuma, the album features guestwork from the likes of Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, and Diana Krall. The leadoff track (and the inspiration for the album title) is Fats Waller's "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down (And Write Myself a Letter)." - HMV

Turning Tables (Live)

'21' is the second album from singer-songwriter Adele, and like her first record, 2008's '19', it is named after the age Adele was when she wrote the album. Most of '21' was produced by Rick Rubin, who has worked with some of the biggest acts of the last 20 years, and Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth. Lyrically the album reflects Adele's increased maturity since '19', although it explores many of the same themes.

Tattoo

Van Halen's first album since 1998 is a long-awaited reunion with David Lee Roth, who hasn't recorded with the band since its classic 1984. Here, the reunited Van Halen touch upon the past -- reviving and reworking their old 1976 demo "She's the Woman" -- but look toward the future via new rockers like "Tattoo." The deluxe edition of A Different Kind of Truth contains a bonus DVD with acoustic versions of new songs and old tunes, including "Beautiful Girls" and "Panama." - HMV

"Stomp Stomp, I've arrived!" struts the opening lyric of Jessie J's debut single, 'Do It Like A Dude' – a heavy urban-pop tune set to juddering beats and laced with her own brand of ghetto-fabulous, sordid swagger.

The instantaneous skank-inducing debut has already picked up airplay from the likes of Twin B, 1Xtra and Mista Jam, Radio 1, with the white hot remix from man-of-the-moment and good pal Labrinth rocketing Jessie J straight to the top of the HypeMachine chart in under 24 hours - all an impressive 3 months ahead of release.

The 22-year old, Essex-born songwriter has penned tunes for the likes of Alicia Keys, toured with Chris Brown and notably wrote Miley Cyrus's Number One billboard smash 'Party In The USA!' While her multi-octave voice and self-made attitude has earned Jessie J the respect of music's glitterati; from Justin Timberlake commenting 'Who is the best singer? Jessie J!', to Cyndi Lauper pulling her on stage at Shepherds Bush to sing her legendary anthem 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' alongside her.

'Do It Like A Dude' is a ghetto chic, crotch-grabbing, urban-pop diamond amongst the rough which cements Jessie J's debut album firmly in place as one of the most anticipated releases of 2011.- HMV

Paradise

Coldplay began working on Mylo Xyloto in 2009, while the band was still in the midst of its multi-year tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Recording sessions stretched from 2009 to 2011, with Brian Eno collaborating with the band on several songs and R&B singer Rihanna lending her vocals to “Princes of China.” Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson all shared production credits, too, resulting in a diverse album inspired by industrial rock and electro-pop. Coldplay began debuting the new tracks as early as May 2011, with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” kicking off a string of anthemic singles.
