February 12, 201214 yr I love it but I agree that 'different' doesn't always equal amazing. I do wish that it would be a wake up call to the likes of Capital and Heart though that 'different' is what we crave after years of drowning under the weight of 'club bangers', British urban, 'nu boring' and R&B-dance fused songs. Any indie, Europop, rock, trance or any other genre that used to do well but has now been relegated to the sidelines would see a welcome return from many I'm sure. Still, consumers won't buy them if they don't know about them, radio and TV need to get on board. Capital have been playing Somebody That I Used to Know for like a month already, to be fair. But yes, the music is soooooo boring atm. We need a change, and radio is important in this. One good thing about Radio 1 is that they always try and make sure to balance their genres.

I hope 'Mirror' can become a big hit because Lil Wayne deserves to have one of his own even if it isn't with his best material. May be the best Lil Wayne song I've heard. Ok, Madonna did make the top 40! Well, that's a start, come on and rise! ETA: M.I.A's discography looks criminally small there. :(

February 12, 201214 yr A real standout track from Lil Wayne's discography - chuffed to see it make the T40, but it's only Lil Wayne's third T40 hit in the UK as a lead artist; after 'Right Above It' and 'Lollipop' (#37 and #26 respectively). Hoping it can spend at least a second week in the top 40, would love to see it climb - but that's unlikely in the absence of radio airplay. Madonna only at #37 - how disappointing considering the amount she's been in the news and how frequently I've seen the video. Certainly don't see this troubling the top 10 now, it may reach top 20, but that'd require some serious support from the likes of R1. Another T40 hit for Minaj and M.I.A. though - so not ALL bad.
