But seriously, you'd think people like Britney Spears would have like ONE song in there, especially when you consider that songs like Candy Shop manage to be top 1000 staples, and Britney (and a lot of those other artists I listed) has all those classics.

From what I've seen, pop acts like Britney and Kylie don't seem to do well on trickle sales - even CGYOOMH only averaged 1 day a week in the T1000 last year.

It's impossibly hard for me to compile the all-time favourites too, maybe I'd know that about 40-50 songs should make the all-time top-100 for sure but I don't even know the order. And the other 50-60 songs are bound to be changed.

My all-time top-10 as it stands, very poppy, haha!

1. Kylie - Can't Get You Out of My Head

Hey. that's mine too! :cheer:

My next two are :

Katie Melua - Closest Thing To Crazy

Joan Jett - I Love Rock & Roll

Tad off topic, but I didn't really know where to ask. Anyone know if So Listen by Cody Simpson made the Top 200 last week?

It didn't.

Chasing Cars being sung now on Sports Relief.

Yet another top 75 re-entry, then? :P

Yeah, unless they're "current" (like Katy, Beyonce, etc.), I noticed most of them don't have much of their dicography selling well, even though they have many classics. Do you have any theories as to why?

Looking at the pop bars, maybe Gotye can be #1 next week again. I hope Plan B will be #1, but I think that's unlikely, so I wouldn't mind Gotye getting it again, as long as Nicki or Chris don't get it.

Decades before you were born? The River was released in 1981. As Brett-Butler said earlier Bruce Springsteen isn't really a singles artist. He had a few big hits from Born To Run but most fans would rather forget about that

Okay, 'decades' was a bit of an exaggeration but 15 years is still quite a long time :P

He may not have been a singles artist but 'The River' was still one of his lower peaking singles so I consider it to be somewhat of a flop, nothing to do with the album or the artist which are obviously far from being flops (not that I ever said they were). I apologise for any offence caused by this statement.

113. Mario - Let Me Love You

It would be AMAZING if this went back in the top 100 on iTunes.

It'd be brilliant if Gotye went back to #1 next week

Has there ever been a song return to the top spot twice in its initial run? I'm sure there probably is back in the 1950s/1960s but none I can think of since then.

Ugh. I hope not. I hope Nicki hurries up and gets a video out for 'Starships'! Then when the video has prem'd I'd like them to lower the price to 59p and give it that extra little boost it needs to go number 1! But I have a feeling the week Nicki gets put to 59p, Gotye will be too and it'll end up ridiculously close!

Frankie Laine's I Believe had a 9 week run then a 6 week run then a 3 week run (making it the longest running #1 of all time, not Bryan Adams' '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' which is only the longest consecutive runner). I think 1 or 2 others also did it in the 50s, but since then no others have done it.

I don't think Gotye will get back to #1 now though, his sales are decreasing. I think next week will be either Katy for a second week or Chris Brown debuting there, with outside shots for Plan B, Sean Paul and Nicki Minaj if her video comes out. I can't believe how well Sean has held up, still at 93% of Katy even after her video premiere :o

Although if someone sings 'Somebody That I Used To Know' on BGT/The Voice...

It just occurred to me that Plan B will only have 167 hours of sales for its first week instead of the normal 168. Not exactly going to make any difference at all but still quite annoying :kink:

The EP is back up to #33 on iTunes albums chart :D Really really hoping for a #1 but I can't see it doing it despite the success of the pre-order.

Full pre-orders update:

33. ill Manors - EP - Plan B

49. MDNA (Deluxe Edition) - Madonna

83. Can't Say No - EP - Conor Maynard

106. Blunderbuss - Jack White

132. Now That's What I Call Music! 81 - Various Artists

140. Ultimate Clubland - Various Artists

I haven't seen/heard Plan B's song ANYWHERE since it premiered. :( And Chris Brown is on every music channel. :(

I have not either but I am not surprised both the song lyrics and the video are very controversial. I hope Plan B can get to No 1.

I've heard it quite a few times on Radio 1 but not seen the video anywhere (are the music channels even allowed to play the video?)
I may not have seen Plan B's song on TV/radio, but its been mentioned a lot in the media! there's whole articles written about it plus we were studying his speech yesterday in Media! I can definitely see it debuting top 5

It's kind of lacking airplay, but surely all the media hype for Plan B should easily see it sail into the top 5?

As for Chris Brown's Turn Up The Music, it's a good song but very generic - I can't see how it will number 1 just because it's got good airplay if Yeah 3x and Beautiful People didn't manage it (even I prefer it to the latter, awful overrated song).

There's no chance of anybody singing Plan B's song on The Voice is there?

Someone might sing 'She Said'. :P

I'm surprise how much Katy Perry and Sean Paul have decreased in the latter end of this week - didn't expect to see Gotye at 88% compared to them. Would be interesting to see 'STIUTK' back to no. 1 but maybe Sean Paul won't decrease as fast as Katy Perry.

Can't see Chris Brown or Plan B getting to no. 1 next week.

Hopefully not. Will never, ever get the fuss with Plan B. Excluding 'End Credits' of course, but that's Chase & Status' song.
