Justin Bieber is far from the worst thing in the charts. Boyfriend is a really good song, and it's different to what everybody else is doing.

It's not different to everybody - Conor Maynard is doing the faux-Timberlake thing far better at the moment. Different doesn't equal good anyway. I wouldn't say Bieber is *the* worst thing in the charts - that honour continues to go to Moves Like Jagger as long as it continues to pollute the chart - but he's certainly close and that's even with a big improvement from his earlier stuff.

(This excludes Live My Life which is actually good and mainly for Bieber's chorus).

Shame to see Alex falling now (the gap between between No.2-5 looks pretty close on Kworb) :( R.I.P. looks certain to get a second week at the top

Hope it's only a temporary slip, but if not, a top 5 (or maybe top 3?) peak is still good enough for me!

Alex Clare is just suffering from the weekend effect, there's not too much in it between 2 and 5 so I think he could still be a challenger for #1 next week. There aren't any obvious #1 contenders in next week's new releases but based on pre-orders we can probably expect D'banj and The Saturdays to make the biggest impacts, really hoping for D'banj to get a biggish hit

I have a gut feeling D'banj 'Oliver Twist' is going to be a big hit. Probably not UK #1 big but wouldn't be at all surprised to see it get top 10 officially, maybe even top 5.

As for Alex Clare, I'm sure he'll recover. Look at how Gotye was performing in its first few weeks on iTunes. Each weekend it dropped about 8 places before picking up again until it was firmly inside the top 10 on iTunes. Tulisa has really tailed off compared to Carly Rae Jepsen and fun. so I suspect this time next week 'Young' will be much lower down iTunes whilst 'Call Me Maybe', 'We Are Young' and 'Too Close' continue to stabilise.

For Alex Clare to be #1, he really needs to be in the #2 position when R.I.P drops (if it does). If Carly Rae Jepsen is there, she'll just develop a big lead again. I really want it to happen for Alex, it would be such an amazing #1!

Shocked at how well 'Express Yourself' is doing.

There's so much random stuff in the top 40. Labrinth and Emeli's singles have shot up from nowhere due to TV performances, we have a eight year old John Legend track in the top 40, a two year old Train song in the top 40, a Justin Bieber song that just got released and went straight to #10, Princess of China finally going top 40, Alex Clare being a suprise top five hit on iTunes, Take Care still top 30 after months of being on the radio, Part Of Me and Turn Up The Music plummeting for weeks before finally stabilising in the top 25 thanks to price reductions, a Matrix and Futurebound song that's came with no hype or buzz and is randomly at #22, Iris, Mr Brightside and I'm Yours at the bottom end of the top 40 despite being years old.....

The charts are varying up so much musically aswell. Compared to this time last year, hardly any dance/electro/europop, and there's so much more alternative-styled music. I prefer it like this tbh, last year was so boring. This year is much better so far.

I can't tell if this is all just temporary and coincidental, or if it's actually finally changing. It'll be interesting to see how Usher and Jennifer Lopez's new songs do. I'm hoping they flop so they go back the music they used to do when I was younger.

Too close at number 5 now. That is just well and truly peak for Alex Clare seeing as he was number 2 last night.

He hasn't really fell that much though, since they're all quite close (no pun intended). :( I just hope he can climb again after the weekend.

I expect a massive rise in album sales from Rebecca, a performance on BGT & Alan Carr in the same week is fantastic promotion.

06. Rihanna - Where Have You Been

15. Labrinth - Express Yourself

28. Emeli Sande - My Kind Of Love

49. Rebecca Ferguson - Teach Me How To Love

56. Wretch 32 - Hush Little Baby

61. Engelbert Humperdinck - Love Will Set You Free

76. Rebecca Ferguson - Glitter & Gold

83. Plan B - Ill Manors

So pleased to see Engelbert climbing to #61 - Really hope he manages to go Top 40 officially after the contest

 49 Rebecca Ferguson - Teach Me How To Be Loved

This is back on the climb and has actually reached a new iTunes peak! Meanwhile Glitter & Gold has also reached a new peak at #76. I suspect the album boost means people are cherry picking the two most popular tracks.

Also great to see Engelbert back up to a new peak of #61. I suspect he could eventually get top 40 on the week of the contest.

Justin Beiber - is there a way he can be banned? Surely we could say he supports the cuts or works for terror organisations?

He's always been something of a hate figure though. There was a pretty nasty internet hate campaign at one time, don't know if that's still active.

Thing is with Justin Bieber is that he's an easy target considering the demographic is music is aimed at. What I've heard of his stuff sounds bland and uninteresting to me, but as a 40-something bloke, I'm a very long way from his target audience :)

It's not different to everybody - Conor Maynard is doing the faux-Timberlake thing far better at the moment. Different doesn't equal good anyway. You will be waiting a long time for Moves Like Jagger to disappear, especially if you consider 'the chart' to be the top 200.

I wouldn't entirely rule out a second return to the top 40.

Don't forgot bound to be someone singing it on X Factor when it returns.

Thank God Alex Clare is falling. Definitely one of the most overrated songs in the charts at the moment. (Although not as bad as the most overrated song of the year by Gotye)

Rebecca Ferguson is #1 on the iTunes album chart right now! BGT did wonders for her.

Teach Me How To Be Loved - #55

Glitter & Gold - #71
