May 9, 201214 yr Emeli's new one is meh. It sounds absolutely fantastic on full blast on her album! Me and my mum love it! :D
May 9, 201214 yr OCC have tweeted that Keane are "almost" outselling the rest of the top 5 put together (not that I suppose that means much given the poor state of sales at the mo) So they'll hopefully grab number 1 album officially this week then :D
May 9, 201214 yr B.o.B's last album didn't do so well did it? asides from So Good which hasn't exactly been massive, I've not really heard much about this new album, I certainly didn't expect top 5 It debuted at #22 and peaked at #17 a few weeks later thanks to 'Airplanes' blowing up. I don't think it sold much past 120K, though. :( Was a phenomenal album, though. 'Ghost In The Machine' and 'Don't Let Me Fall' are stunning haunting tracks. Pisses me off it can't even go top 20 (and probably won't last longer than three weeks in the charts) when Adele is STILL top ten. :puke2:
May 9, 201214 yr am i the only one who thinks marina may end up at #6 in the albums by the end of the week, if she overtakes cribs and cover drive?
May 9, 201214 yr Fantastic to see Keane making it 5 number 1 albums now! Silenced By The Night should creep into the top 40 as well hopefully! Keane are doing very well worldwide as well, its in the top 10 in America and number 1 and top 5 across many countries in and out of Europe! Good stuff!! :cheer: :yahoo:

May 9, 201214 yr EDIT: Wrong thread. Might as well add a response to this one as well though so this isn't a wasted post. Re: Marina, I think she's only going to fall over the week - she may well overtake The Cribs and Cover Drive but a good few of the albums below it are likely to overtake her too. I think she does have a good chance of staying top 10 though which is better than the 1-26ish dive I was expecting. Edited May 9, 201214 yr by B.r.É
May 9, 201214 yr I'm so happy Cover Drive's album is selling much more than B.o.B's. Totally deserved! :yahoo: Just wondering if 'I'm yours' is at #41 as I predicted in Ben's UK Singles Top 10 Prediction Game.
May 10, 201214 yr Why are people still buying Adele?! for f*** sake, there's much more interesting albums out there than hers! (*cough* B.O.B's) Do I detect a note of jealousy? :P I hope Marina has an 'Ellie' in her second week, falling 1-16. Given how well Ellie's album eventually sold, that wouldn't necessarily be a disaster... Might as well add a response to this one as well though so this isn't a wasted post. I think she does have a good chance of staying top 10 though which is better than the 1-26ish dive I was expecting. I should point out that Christina's massive fall was partly due to her 2nd chart week coinciding with the Fathers Day market, where a great many albums other than hers got a significant boost - a problem Marina will not have to face.
May 10, 201214 yr Do I detect a note of jealousy? :P Not jealousy at all. I was happy for Adele during 2011 when she was dominating the charts, but now it's seriously time to let other artists shine. It's getting a bit boring seeing her in the top ten every week while new artists (who are also producing albums just as good as '21') are struggling to even get top ten in the first place.

I'd argue that says as much about those albums as it does about adele.
May 10, 201214 yr I'd argue that says as much about those albums as it does about adele. How so? Half the time albums get released and nobody even knows about them because radio, TV and the press are still bleating on about Adele.
May 10, 201214 yr Was really hoping Engelbert was going to sneak in at #40 on today's update on the back of the physical CD single being #1 on pre-orders on Amazon for the past 2 months! Eurovison singles in recent years have gone back to doing poorly again chartwise aswell as at the contest! There is no way we will ever get a decent performer to represent us if they are not even guaranteed a hit single in their home country! :( I'm hoping he will climb on iTunes after Graham Norton on Friday, I'm fairly safe in the knowledge that his die-hard fans could get him at least into the top 100, he will outpeak Josh for sure. I don't think UK chart success is the be-all and end-all for a UK Eurovision entry, we came second in 1988 and 1989 without the single going top 40, and the most recent big chart success bombed. Let's be honest, Love Will Set You Free isn't the kind of song that sets the chart alight these days, even removed from the "stigma" of Eurovision.
May 10, 201214 yr So Adele would stop selling if media were quiet about her? Highly doubt that. No, but if they started giving other artists and their work more attention then they'd probably benefit.
May 10, 201214 yr a hit single is still the biggest promotion an album can get, and sales of tracks are at all time highs. If that is not translating to album sales for acts then that is not adele's fault, this seems a bizarre argument not funded in any kind of historical context. For instance I recall in the 90s when oasis were breaking records with WTSMG, plenty of albums were also shifting, and by new acts. It has much more to do with cherry picking that people are not investing in albums, plus streaming. This is slightly off topic, but even new albums by emeli and lana show they do sell.
May 10, 201214 yr Keane must be on course for maybe 30-40k if theyre outselling the top 5 combined which wouldnt be too bad at all considering SBTN is on radio 2 rather than radio 1, if radio 1 had played the single it could be selling in greater numbers again!!

Your right i would say both lana and emeli could break a million sales by the end of the year - theyre on 500k nearly and they are still not near their first christmas season!!
May 10, 201214 yr I dont care how well Englebert's single does, I just want it to perform well in the Eurovision standings so we dont end up bottom and the laughing stock again :/
