Silenced By The Night is a good track, its a shame Keane cant sell singles anymore because apart from Bedshaped, their most recent singles are the ones i have liked

Marina and the Diamonds falling 1-8 in the albums! :( Seems like she will beat Paul Weller's 1-10 fall and be the biggest faller of the year! However, it's great to see Train jumping back up to #10! :cheer: I don't like Nicki Minaj falling 11 places and Bruce Springsteen falling out of the Top 40 from #26 - chart runs for #1 albums need to be better!! Also, quite a fall for Alabama Shakes after doing well in the Top 10! I hope that these albums don't fall as much come Sunday - albums normally climb from the midweek position.

No suprise to see Rita Ora at #1 in the singles! I hope that Alex Clare could possibly reach #1 at some points, although I am not aware of upcoming releases. Fantastic news for Temper Trap at #15!!! :w00t: Stay Top 20 come Sunday? I hope that Emeli Sande's My Kind of Love will continue to climb until it's official release (although that doesn't mean I want it to plummet after it's release ;) ).

Disgusting (and disappointing) to see B.o.B so low in the albums

That Train song is going to be around for ages isn't it? They are caning it on HEART at the moment.

"Silenced By The Night" (the single) is very average IMO, a bit of shame given the wonderful "Perfect Symmetry" album.. though I'm sure the lack of the singles success is not at all concerning to Keane given they still have a dedicated fanbase who they are able to galvanise into buying anything they release.

as bad as it is seeing marina fall from 1-8, I'm relieved it doesn't look like it'll beat christina's record. would be great if it could manage to stay in the top 10 throughout the week but I'm doubtful. :(
Not a good update at all today  Only good thing is Alex Clare's slight upward movement tbh! Gutted for Marina looking like she's going to fall out of the top 10 and B.o.B. being so low, plus the falls for Nicki and Alabama Shakes...
UK Midweeks: Keane ready to high five UK albums chart

And making an even sharper fall is 679/Atlantic’s Marina & The Diamonds’ whose Electra Heart is the week to date’s seventh top seller, having debuted at one last Sunday. It sales are 66% down on the week.

Just can't figure that out?

B.O.B at #24?!? WTF?

I get the fact he's a rapper and he's not supposed to be an album seller, but seriously? Surely the fact 'So Good' went top ten (although the fact that's falling rather quickly, too, is pissing me off) should have been enough for the album to do the same? I would have thought Strange Clouds would easily have went top five considering how bad the sales are, but no doubt it'll fall down from #24 and by Sunday it'll chart at #30 or something before dissapearing from the top 100 in a few weeks. His first album debuted at #22 and peaked at #17 thanks to Airplanes but I can't see him having a huge single like that again unless 'Both Of Us' (the Taylor collab) suddenly takes off. Absolutely shocking because he's a genuinely talented artist and his first album was very, very deep and powerful. I was blown away by it.

Cover Drive at #7? After three top ten singles, tons of airplay and a spot on Rihanna's tour? Ouch. I got the album in yesterday but haven't played it yet. I wonder if they'll end up dropped (if the album doesn't pick up later in the campaign) because that's quite bad a position for such a promoted band.

Marina down to #8? Sheesh.

Rebecca Ferguson down 10+ places? Great.

Why are people still buying Adele?! for f*** sake, there's much more interesting albums out there than hers! (*cough* B.O.B's)

The Cover Drive album is a GREAT pop album but im not suprised by its lack of success - They just never stuck me as a band that could shift albums, I really want it to pick up but can't see it happening - Hopefully the label will continue to support them but surely questions will be asked over their future when a debut album featuring a #1 single and 2 further Top 10s and is selling for around a fiver is struggling to go Top 5 in such a weak sales environment

Customarily TL;DR commentary (seems even longer than usual this week!);

As a very rough guide based on the percentage drop given for Tulisa and the percentage lead given for Rita, 'R.I.P.' should be heading for around 110k - that seems a bit low though so I'm hoping that's some way out. I want Rita to at least beat the opening sales of 'Young' if not also 'Hot Right Now' so Rita has the two best sales weeks of the year. Woo at #1 being certain for her anyway although we've known that for some time.

Great to see 'Too Close' in the top 3 and I have some hope it could possibly even climb to #2. Glad to see 'Live My Life' in the top 10, the first song associated with Bieber that isn't completely awful and is actually quite good - as long as it stays at least as high as #8 (so outpeaking 'Eenie Meenie') I'll be happy. There's obviously no way it'll get near the peaks of 'Boyfriend' and 'Baby' though. Not mentioned in the update but Gotye is actually back up to #9 - really hoping he can hold onto that top 10 and thereby equal Maroon 5's 16 week run :cheer:

Utterly brilliant to see the incredible 'Sweet Disposition' showing up as a top 15 re-entry    I assume it'll end up just outside the top 20 like 'Skinny Love' did both times it started in the top 15 though. Urgh at the big climb for Hey, Soul Sister although Drive By climbing to #6 is great (not mentioned in the update either). Emeli's new one is meh. Woo/lol at Sexy And I Know It climbing, I'm hoping for it to get back in the top 20 to overtake Maroon 5's run there (currently equalled). Two potential whacks to the ego of Moves Like Jagger this week :P

Good to see Kate Bush and Tom Petty both in the top 40 at the moment although I suspect both will drop out (Petty could still re-peak though, had no idea that it peaked so low :o) Also brilliant to see Paradise back again, despite being the lowest of the three at the moment it has the least chance of dropping out since it's still a relatively current song. Great to see Matrix and Futurebound in the top 40 too on an unrelated note, wasn't expecting it to show up today after the mix-up with its EP on Sunday.

A Keane-Hawley top 2 on the albums chart as I expected then, with Emeli climbing back to #3 after The Voice - what I did not expect however is '21' going back UP to #4  Overtaking everything that was ahead of it last week. It seems to have a habit of doing this.

A few underperforming albums this week, The Cribs are doing alright but it'll be selling to their core fanbase and literally no other people so will probably fall a lot over the week and plummet next week. I thought The Proclaimers would be a bit higher after their TBO re-entered the top 100 last week and while I wasn't expecting B.o.B to do overly well I did think he'd be a bit higher than #24 at this stage! And then there's a royal flop for Damon Albarn, I haven't heard much about this album but surely on name alone he should be FAR higher than #32, especially as Blur have been back in the public eye recently?!

On the other hand, I didn't see Cover Drive as being able to shift albums at all so quite shocked to see them top 10 even with how publicised they've been. Never heard of Storm Corrosion, wasn't aware that My Bloody Valentine had re-releases and didn't see King Charles as a particular contender for the top 40 so I suppose those also count as doing better than I expected :P

Train's album is having a very bipolar chart run so far, back in the top 10 already? Very quick recovery from its awful start. I hope it outsells Jason Mraz's album. Good to see Gotye, Rizzle Kicks and Coldplay all climbing a bit in the top 20 and Alex Clare heading for another new peak.

#24? Really? I echo what everyone else has said about "Strange Clouds", I thought he actually had a fanbase here.
On a plus note AMAZING to see Train doing so well - Drive By up to #6 and Hey Soul Sister up to #23 :w00t: Hopefully the latter will keep climbing and beat its original peak position. Great to see their album back in the Top 10 too

So happy to see Alex Clare at #3 and Emeli Sande entering!!!! :w00t: :cheer:

I guess So Good wasn't a big enough hit to sell B.o.B's album then. I expected it to be a bit higher. He sells really well in the US. His last album went to #1 I think, and that was before Airplanes took off.

Was really hoping Engelbert was going to sneak in at #40 on today's update on the back of the physical CD single being #1 on pre-orders on Amazon for the past 2 months! Eurovison singles in recent years have gone back to doing poorly again chartwise aswell as at the contest! There is no way we will ever get a decent performer to represent us if they are not even guaranteed a hit single in their home country! :(
And then there's a royal flop for Damon Albarn, I haven't heard much about this album but surely on name alone he should be FAR higher than #32, especially as Blur have been back in the public eye recently?!

To be fair it is an opera, was never going to go top 20. I know he got Journey To The West top 5 but that had loads more hype and publicity.

OCC have tweeted that Keane are "almost" outselling the rest of the top 5 put together (not that I suppose that means much given the poor state of sales at the mo)

B.o.B's last album didn't do so well did it? asides from So Good which hasn't exactly been massive, I've not really heard much about this new album, I certainly didn't expect top 5

anyways, two clear number 1s this week it seems, very nice to see Keane get another number 1 album, I'm a bit over them, but they were great way back when. Hoping they can manage some half decent sales
