May 9, 201213 yr Maybe with all of the reduced older songs making an impact recently, they've decided to have a recurrent chart like Billboard and put all songs over a certain age in that? That'd be controversial. I wouldn't want that to happen in the actual official chart. But for entertainment purposes, I would like Radio 1 to adjust to the current slowness of the chart, and maybe venture a bit further down the top 100, and play some songs from there. For example, last week there were new entries from Glee Cast, Miles Kane, Florence + The Machine, Tenacious D and Skrillex, so maybe they could've played those songs at the beginning of the chart show. Since in the charts now, it's mostly only the most mainstream hits that can hope to make the top 40 now. And if they don't have time, they could've skipped playing Sexy and I Know It, Take Care and Mama Do the Hump, to make room (just announcing their chart positions) since they've played those songs every week for the past 5 months now... But on the other hand, I know a lot of people sent in complaints in the past because they used to not play every song each week, so they'll probably be reluctant to do that now.
May 9, 201213 yr They already have a 'catalogue chart' for old songs though, it's just that those songs are still allowed to chart on the main chart. I really hope it's not any of these moves towards a Billboard-esque chart because that'd just be awful. I think the most likely outcome will be either something very bad or completely pointless. I thought the Heritage Chart does that already. http://www.officialcharts.com/catalogue-singles-chart/ I was not aware that this chart already existed, BUT these songs still remain on the Official UK Top 75 so you never know...
May 9, 201213 yr Could it be.. *They've realised they made several pretty silly errors in the Top 150 that Radio 1 counted down on BH Monday ("Where Is The Love?" sales total falling since 2009 for instance etc.) *iTunes is bringing back Top 1000 chart positions so we can monitor a future Des'ree #999 chart smash. *Bre to host a weekly Top 3000 singles chart.
May 9, 201213 yr Author Could it be.. *Bre to host a weekly Top 3000 singles chart. Shush, don't spoil it!
May 9, 201213 yr *Bre to host a weekly Top 3000 singles chart. in which he will list the full chart run of each song :D
May 9, 201213 yr MAKE EVERY RELEASE ON-AIR ON-SALE It'll most likely be something utterly pointless though. "We can reveal that the artist of the No.1 album shall be handed an award, just like in the singles chart etc etc etc" WHOA, big fookin' deal.
May 9, 201213 yr I personally don't get the complaint about the awards. I know they are a bit pointless but I think they do deserve something for being #1 etc. Edited May 9, 201213 yr by FM11
May 9, 201213 yr Or maybe they are going to post the top 200 instead of Top 100. I just hope its not something silly making people stay up late.

The complaints were more to do with the fact that there was plenty of time to play all the songs. They just chose to fill the time with pointless drivel and rubbish like celebrity chart numbers. If they played a few songs between 41 and 75 and had a logical method of choosing which songs are left out (e.g. those with most weeks on chart and played last week) there would probably not be so many complaints.
May 9, 201213 yr They miscalculated the Adele 21 sales and it's actually sold under a million? *hope*
May 9, 201213 yr I personally don't get the complaint about the awards. I know they are a bit pointless but I think they do deserve something for being #1 etc. doesn't make it exciting for us chart fans though :P I'm intrigued by this announcement, I do hope its not playing with how its compiled, its fine as it is.
May 9, 201213 yr Whatever happens, it'll either be an anti climax or leave us chart nerds (and proud of it :D ) feeling gutted. I'm hoping for the anti climax.
May 9, 201213 yr doesn't make it exciting for us chart fans though :P I know it's not exciting. It's just... cool. :P Edited May 9, 201213 yr by FM11
May 9, 201213 yr Another theory Mark Goodier is coming back in place of Reggie to present the Sunday Chart Show, that would be the best news ever.
May 9, 201213 yr Why would the OCC announce something to do with Radio 1 though? That would be a R1 announcement! It must be an award or something.
May 9, 201213 yr I unlikely Possibility, Include Full Sales Figures on all charts every week. And all totals! *Dreams*
May 9, 201213 yr My prediction is that they're probably adding on more chart positions They said it was not that on Twitter.
