I don't really like long-running tracks either, but when we've got a chart full of songs like Dance Again, Live My Life, Starships, so something like Niggas in Paris is welcome to stay as long as it can.

It's sad to see all those artists so desperately trying to re-create Party Rock Anthem, and failing again and again. I find it bizarre how people used to ridicule the rapping on songs like Promiscuous and London Bridge a few years ago, but now they're fine with the rapping on Dance Again, Live My Life and Starships? Things have really gone downhill. Those songs just need to go.

Niggas in Paris is unique. Same with Somebody That I Used to Know. Those songs can stay as long as they want. I've never heard anything like them before, and they're classics, and make up for some of those generic songs which keep somehow becoming hits even though everybody forgets them after a few months.

The charts really need a shake-up. Songs like Somebody That I Used To Know, Starships, Domino, Titanium, Next To Me, Call Me Maybe, We Are Young, Mama Do the Hump, Wild Ones, Good Feeling, Paradise, We Found Love, Sexy And I Know It, Paradise etc hang around for months and yet other songs like Sparks, Can't Say No, Boyfriend, So Good, 30 Days, Live My Life, Let's Go, Greyhound, Climax, Oh My Goodness, Last Time, Love Me, Proud, Seven Nation Army, Rockstar, Ill Manors either have very average chart runs or just plummet after their peak. It'd be nice to see a variety of songs in the top 10 each week but it seems like we're getting too many chart runs which consist of 12 weeks in the top 10, then a further 4 weeks in the top 40. Songs plummet far too quickly after leaving the top ten.

I loved Promiscuous and London Bridge! Two amazing rap songs! :cheer:

I love those songs too. Although I doubt Gwen Stefani does.

I like them mainly because they've all got such heavy drums and lots of weird sounds popping everywhere, making them very catchy.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if J-Lo's next song is more in that direction (e.g. loud drums, etc.). Dance Again has really under-performed in the US (they probably expected it to be as big as On the Floor). And I'm sure they're taking notes from the two biggest songs of the year.

You were even moaning about the possibility of one country song getting in.

You got me on that one  That is a little bit hypocritical of me.

The only reason tracks like 'Sparks', 'Can't Say No' and 'Live My Life' (as recent examples) all drop out of the top 10/fall down to chart relatively quickly is because clearly they're not as popular as their debut makes out. I'd much see Gotye, Fun., Carly Rae Jepsen and Jessie J all have long running top 10 hits for it's a true representation of what's popular at the time; and all of those artists have scored huge hits.

2 Fun. - We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monáe) 0.9000 0.8500

Already? Maybe Fun. can make it this week after losing last week for nothing.

Aaaaaah! :D Paloma Faith  10

OMFGUNFFYAAAAAHHHOOFFT :w00t:

So happy :D

1 The Wanted - Chasing the Sun 1.0000

2 Fun. - We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monáe) 0.9000

Fun may soon overtake The Wanted.

Fun. have a 2nd version currently at 122 - so the gap is even smaller :)

Although I guess TW have their EP :D

looking like three new top 10 entries this week! I thought The Wanted would've pulled away more at this stage, with fun.'s album version, this could be quite close (I still think the former will triumph though)

To be fair, I don't really think this statement can be applied to Starships, which has been used as an example. Sure, it's generic as hell, but 11 weeks Top 10, doesn't seem like people have forgotten it after a few months to me, it still seems as big as ever..

Ah, Paloma has made it then - I still haven't heard 'Picking Up The Pieces' as I didn't watch The Voice at all last weekend and I'm yet to hear it elsewhere but I really liked the singles off her debut bar the title track so it's good to see her looking likely to finally get a top 10 hit :D

 37. Back In Time (From "Men In Black III") - Pitbull

 43. The Night Out (Madeon Mix) - Martin Solveig

Haven't been paying attention to the progress of these two so I'm a bit surprised to see them so high :o Not heard the Pitbull track though and I don't like the Martin Solveig one much (Madeon's production sounds good on this remix but the vocals are annoying - the original version that gets played on TV is just awful).

 90. Celestine - Spector

Woo at Spector looking semi-likely to get a top 100 hit :D Shame it's not with 'Chevy Thunder' though.

 93. You Win Again - Bee Gees

Pretty disappointing boost, I was really hoping to see a few Bee Gees classics in the top 100 :(

Good to see Tulisa out of the top 10 already. Paloma Faith's song I've just heard for the first time, and it's so much better. It deserved the success that Young had imo. And I always wish Upside Down went top 40.

Good to see fun. climbing aswell. I think The Wanted get unfairly hated on here (and ther chart achievements get ignored by people on here just because they're a boy group, which pisses me off), but I don't really like the song that much. I'd rather We Are Young get a week. I thought they were going to get it last week to be honest (although it was really close anyway).

Yeah, I suppose.

I may buy Paloma Faith, its been stuck in my head since The Voice performance and Breakfast this morning.
Over 10% then. Far too much in my opinion. You were even moaning about the possibility of one country song getting in.

Having said that, I do like the Skepta track.

10% is nothing given it's one of the most prevalent genres of the 21st century. There's far more dance-based tracks in the top 40 currently, so that should be more of a concern.

You got me on that one  That is a little bit hypocritical of me.

We've all been guilty of that on occasions, I think.

62. Payphone - The Dream Team

It looks like 'Payphone' (real version obviously) will probably be set for #1 on release then -_- Can lightning strike thrice and see them miss out again? Rihanna to rush release a song partway through Payphone's release week please

The only positive thing I can say about Payphone is that Wiz Khalifa's part is quite good, the rest is just as obnoxious if not even moreso than Moves Like Jagger. I promise I'll try not to moan about this as much as I did about that though :P Hopefully it won't stick around so frustratingly long for one thing.
