Surprising to see a one week wonder from 2003 being entered in BJSC :o "I'm In Heaven" scored zero points in my Ultimate One Week Wonders of the 00s Rate, hopefully the same fate won't happen in the contest.

 

Also a little bit surprised that Sia, Wynter Gordon and Us were allowed in the contest - as Sia has had 2 massive chart hits recently, Wynter has been entered loads of times here and Us went top 100 in the UK. Anyway, it should be a good contest :D (other than the fact that my entry will certainly DNQ :drama:)

Well, looking at your entries, I can see why they have been. A Diana Vickers album track the contest after a B-Side had been used wasn't going to endear many, an old hyped flop that had never been entered felt a little lazy (although I made a decent discovery out of it so thanks for that), and while a forgotten UK top 10 hit is a perfectly reasonable entry, it's definitely going to attract attention from those who do remember it. It's just the way you've been going about finding entries, which feels a little less inspired, but to be honest, I prefer it to those scrambling for Scandipop entries right now, at least it's different and not as predictable.

 

I'd recommend searching out blogs that aren't well known, searching for hits in other countries, or even youtube trawling. If you see the sort of entries most people send, unheard-of artists or long forgotten artists with tracks that very few people know. I've managed to feel when a song is right to send to BJSC for myself, I know it's different for others, but just find what works for you.

Basically what Eyes said. No offence but your entries have been proper cheap so far, even if OMG was a massive flop on release. Had it been entered at the time, it might have done really well but people largely penalise for what they know.

 

Even if you just go on Scandipop, that's a start. It's fairly easy to go on a YouTube loop or hunt for less fought over blogs though.

25 votes, 13 in SF1, 12 in SF2, almost halfway to go.

 

Everyone now in both semis gained at least a point.

 

The total points in SF-1 bottom-3 is 29, in top-3 is 141. Bottom-3 points are 20.5% of top-3 points.

 

The total points in SF-2 bottom-3 is 15, in top-3 is 168. Bottom-3 points are 8.9% of top-3 points.

 

It is STILL much more clear in semi 2.

If those stats are anything go off, then it's possibly safe to assume this months BJSC winner will come from SF2.

We're only halfway into the voting. Last month Greenfroze got in a massive lead in the first half of the Semi voting and came 2nd in the end. Plus, Florrie received 121 points against Woodkid's 112.

Not necessarily. The best songs in SF2 may just be really obviously the best songs in that semi. SF1 seems to be more universally rated as a bloodbath so it only really makes sense that the points will be more spread out.

I've never voted this late in my life, I really can't decide which of the 10 8/10's in Semi 2 deserve my support the most :P I know my 12 and 10 pointer and that's about it...
