Wow! Plan B went from #1 to #4 in two days, goes to show how much things can change when sales are low and there is such a small gap between positions. It would be so weird if Rihanna returned to number one! Great to see Paloma Faith still at #6 and Nicki Minaj continuing to climb – would be nice to see it in the Top 10 come Sunday.

Sales for the album charts must be pretty low could be looking around 12 to 14k, the top 5 looks pretty packed, with Rihanna in the top 3, and Paloma inside the top 10. The top 5 could change again when the sales are counted at the end of Saturday night.

I'm expecting Lawson to drop a place or 2 over the weekend, for Florence to take the #3 position, and ha ha at Rudimental #7 for a 5th week maybe  "waits for Bre to comment on it"

I dread to think what Emeli Sandé's sales will be for this week if she has the #1 album. Album sales are just getting worse and worse and I don't see how this is going to recover.

When you consider Lana Del Rey sold 117k in her release week back in January, in retrospect that's incredible when compared to Conor Maynard's 17k last week.

The problem is all the big albums are coming out near the end of the year, how many 'big' albums can you name so far this year? particularly follow-ups. Not much.

The likes of The Killers and Muse have newies this year and more, there's Gaga again early next year as well. Ever notice this is exactly like the singles chart was a few years ago? Sales massively down and downloads slowly taking over while the album chart was the highest it had been a long time, see a pattern here?

Still I don't think physical albums will die anytime soon.

I think Lana and Emeli had massive releases before the album and were expected to be big sellers but conor maynard hasnt really had a massive single and he is aimed at a teenage market (hence the summer hol release) who maybe dont have the money to buy the album.

Could the no1 album sell less than 10k for the first time this week? Think Lawson/redlight must be nearing 38-40k sales if they have caught florence!

Yes but in fairness, Lana Del's was much more anticipated release than Conor's

I think one problem is a lack of new artists that can sell albums. Lana and Emeli sold very well in their first weeks but there really hasn't been any other debuts that could have been expected to sell even half of their totals in the first week. Connor should have sold more but he wouldn't ever have been close to those. And everything else this year has been us discussing artists who were bound to suffer in the trend of diminishing returns. Perhaps someone like Rita Ora could get pretty decent first week sales when her album is released.

Zillions of fans that can only get her to #83 in the midweeks. I think she does need to promote on TV.

yeah because most of them are OLDER than the average music consumer and tend to refrain from buying downloads...

4 Minutes did amazing on downloads all over the world (even in the US), so I don't think that's the reason. I think it's just lack of radio airplay this time tbh. She needs the support from Radio 1 and Capital, but she's not getting it anymore.

it was only airplayed because it had Justin T. on it... subsequent singles all flopped really badly if it wasn't for physical releases... 'Give it to me' reached number 23 on downloads while 'Miles Away' didn't even chart in the Download Top 100... Their physicals helped increase overall sales...

Unfortunately, I can't see it myself, unless there's suddenly some big hype surrounding her. The single didn't hold up as well I hoped it would.

i think it will be closer to the 7k-9k range... i don't think any album selling more than 10 k this week... maybe Emeli with a push & a discount...

i doubt Rita Ora's new album will sell more than 20 k in the current state of the album charts...
Both Emeli and Maroon 5 sold over 11k last week so I wouldn't expect sales to drop below 10k this week.

out of these two, only Emeli is likely to sell more than 10 k... Maroon 5 probably closer to 9k...

Yay for Angel top 15, outside chance of top 10 by Sunday? He's now up to #7 on iTunes.

'Bangarang' definitely going for a new peak if it's top 25 already (what exact position is it today?) and still comfortably top 20 on iTunes. Still have no idea what's causing this resurgence but I'm not complaining :P

Of Monsters And Men top 30 :D

Boo at Plan B dropping to #4 on the albums, I really hope Rihanna can somehow take #1 if it has to be one of those top 3.

Train album definitely looking like re-peaking again, I think this will eventually go top 5. '21' climbing again and 'Every Kingdom' back in the top 10 :cheer:

Keane's album is holding up extremely well, it's coming close to the length of the original top 40 run of 'Under The Iron Sea' having already surpassed that of 'Perfect Symmetry' and 'Night Train'!

I only suggest Rita Ora because I feel she has been hyped so much already, way more than Connor Maynard.
Yeah Alicia is a huge fan of Emeli, and Emeli of Alicia ofcourse.

How can you possibly know that? Being a fan doesn't just imply "to like someone", especially being a huge fan. ;)
