Just sharing a little tip here for anyone interested. If anyone wants to display their most recent last.fm scrobbles right here on BuzzJack, whether in their signature or elsewhere, there is a wonderf

Got a new last.fm as my old one hasnt been used for years and I thought it was better to start again  I'll add everyone from my old one on this one but feel free to add x

(weep for Euphoria being my most played with 500 plays and my 2,000 Taylor Swift plays </3)

  • 4 weeks later...

Probably stating the obvious here, but is last.fm still a reliable platform for keeping listening stats? I mean, I know of no other that is as sophisticated as last.fm is, but the site and app are poorly maintained, and they don’t move with the times and embrace new technologies. I listen to my music on so many different devices that I simply can’t keep an accurate record of my scrobbles as many are omitted when I sync to last.fm.

Anyone else relate to this? It may be the reason you stopped using the service, but I know many still do, so it must work then.

The thing about last.fm is that it rarely scrobbles tracks I listen to when I'm out and about with data - which is most of the time, explaining the pitiful levels I've had recently :P I've recently taken to using the Open Web Scrobbler for anything I listen to on Youtube.
I’ve just noticed that they haven’t counted any songs that I’ve listened to in the last 3 hours. Anyone know how I can get the lost scrobbles added?

Are you listening via Spotify? I've been having issues today too, apparently you need to enable "Spotify Scrobbling" here: https://www.last.fm/settings/applications

Then I had to remember every song I played today because I couldn't bear incorrect stats :')

Yeah I know what you mean. There is something I do to 'counterbalance' it. Last year when iTunes updated to 12.7.3 the scrobbler stopped working with it, so they built an emergency scrobbler to replace it until they fixed the issue, which I installed. I then forgot about it and a few weeks later realised it was scrobbling again - except scrobbling from both places. I've left it like that because I feel those 'double' plays (it scrobbles twice about 70-80% of the time) make up for every time I hear the song elsewhere but it doesn't scrobble. It's all a rough estimate really these days, not accurate, but what will be anymore?

Yes I am

I checked and it’s already enabled :(

Usually in situations like that, the last.fm app has recorded the data but not scrobbled it for whatever reason and will scrobble it when it unblocks. That's what I've found anyway. Even listening via my laptop on the train with no wifi, it does the same thing, keeps a log of all the tracks, then when I get wifi access it scrobbles them. Not sure if this is the case with Spotify though as I use iTunes.

Working again for me now!!

Scrobbles by month

January - 1,194 (up 239% on 2017)

February - 1,261 (up 155%)

March - 878 (down 9%)

April - 995 (down 7%)

May - 185 (down 27%)

My last fm wasn't scrobbling properly (well, even less properly than usual ;o) at the start of last year so that's why the first two months look a bit out of place

It’s still not working

I use Spotify, hopefully it’ll work soon. Thanks.

Oh it’s working now :D

So has it scrobbled all of the 'missing' ones from last night? Would be interesting to know how Spotify behaves in these circumstances.

Honestly I've never had a problem with it - it scrobbles everything I listen to on Spotify with the Spotify Scrobbler, and everything on YouTube with the Web Scrobbler, then I manually add my vinyl and CD scrobbles online, which only takes a few minutes.

Tbf for what it is I think it's still a great resource that works basically flawlessly (in my experience anyway)

I switched to scrobbling Spotify through the Last.fm option on the website but then it started scrobbling twice so I had to disable it on the app.

The only downside was it wouldn't scrobble tracks that were local files, only the ones that are actually on Spotify which was annoying so I had to scrobble them manually, then it just stopped scrobbling altogether so I went back to scrobbling through the app and it has worked fine since then and scrobbles my local files too :D

last.fm scrobbling is the embodiment of OCD in the 00s and 10s xo

(mine is all over the place, it usually scrobbles iTunes fine these days but I have to use the emergency 'scrubbler', and Spotify often doesn't scrobble or skips songs. At this point I'm sorta past caring yet again)

Mine currently is saying 'scrobbling now' for the track I'm listening to but then the track doesn't scrobble at the end of the song, any solution to this?

Yeah, I'm starting to have that same problem now.
