Synopsis of Episode 1:

It’s a new term for William Beswick High, but with pupils rioting, head Kim Campbell is forced into drastic changes. A fugitive found hiding in the school gives everyone a shock.

I have a feeling the episode is going to open with 'I Predict a Riot' by Kaiser Chiefs like how the first episode of Series 1 did.

Legit cannot wait!

Same! The writing definitely suffered in the latter series, particularly after the move to Scotland. It just felt so infantilised and such a shadow of its former self, but I’m optimistic this new series will learn from past mistakes. The casting in regards to fan favourite characters returning certainly puts it in a positive light for me.

7 episodes long, similar to the first series, so hopefully it’s quality over quantity. Also, no more episodes where it focuses on one character never to be seen again, please!

That looks kind of cringe, hope it’s misleading.

Not going to lie, I did have similar thoughts. Not that it gives that much a way, it’s just not giving me very realistic vibes and more in line with the way the show presented itself when filmed in Scotland.

From the press releases it seems like they are trying to tackle literally every issue schools are currently facing in the first run of seven episodes.

I agree with the above in the hope we don’t get one episode storylines like this and Bad Girls ended up being.

Yeah it's only a very brief trailer but it doesn't make me confident there will be more of the grit and realism that it had in its early series restored.

Back tonight. I loved it before and didn't miss a single episode. Scheduled up against Corrie tonight but that's not usually on Tuesdays.
Only watched the first one so far but I did very much enjoy it though a bit put out by that ending. Have an awful feeling something has happened to Kim’s son too though I guess we’ll find out. The new characters will take time to bed in but I quite liked all of them so far and I thought they got around the school name issue in a pretty clever way. It did feel a little like those early series and hopefully that will continue.

I’m more impressed than I thought I’d be! I think they did really well at balancing that classic Waterloo Road feel with the new issues that the show needs to tackle while airing in 2023, I thought it might be a bit cringe or try hard but I think the diversity of the cast and the sensitivity to such issues were done really well in a way that feels refreshing.

I really don’t think they needed to kill off Chlo at the start like that though, that felt a bit drastic and unneeded and over the top, that’s one thing I hope doesn’t continue with this series but maybe it’s just for Donte and Izzie’s storylines through the series. I think having so many new things to tackle in terms of a new generation is pupils is enough, without having over the time dramatic soapy storylines. I know Waterloo Road did always have stuff like that, but idk it just didn’t feel right to bring back an original character for the hype then kill her off like that.

Rachel Leskovac seemingly playing a neurotic baddie again tho *.*
