Oh this is out OA/OS? :o I doubt it will do as well as Starships did but it will be interesting to see it climb further.

Yep! I've got no idea how it'll do to be honest, especially if 'Va Va Voom' is the next official single here? Ha.

Not expecting it to do much but it'll be interesting to see, like you say.

Fourth?

'The Crowd' made no.1 with the track in 1985 (Bradford Fire) but the 1989 Hillsborough charity record was 'Ferry Cross the Mersey'.

Robson and Jerome took it to #1 in 1996, think it was on a triple A-side or something equally ridiculous.

I've never heard Robson & Jerome's cover of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. I have no intentions of changing this. :D

Also Robson & Jerome took it to #1 so its 2 cover versions, and the re-release of the original this week.

Along with 'What becomes of the Broken Hearted' and 'Saturday Night at the Movies' I had to look it up!

No wonder I didn't recall it.....

Yeah true, I suppose she's just bringing it out here just like in the US so that her UK fans don't miss out which is good as it's more than can be said for most artists!

Looking at the latest from Kworb, The Script's highest version (at 2) has climbed from 0.90 to 0.9875 in the space of a couple of hours.

So could well take the lead from Gerry and the Pacemakers very soon.

They are in front anyway with the huge amount of multiple versions of Hall of Fame anyway.

Yep it was a triple A side as I remember it wouldn't fit all on one line on my database, the title was rather long winded.

I have no intentions of listening to any Robson & Jerome's hits :(

Personally I don't even like the original track by Gerry, but since all the proceeds are going to a charity I don't mind it been there, at least once you gather all the chart stats around it, it makes a well worthy #1.

If YNWA can hold off Dappy and Example next week, I'll be happy it's made a return to the charts. But I doubt it will.

What other pre-21st century songs have gone to #1 on iTunes? 'Man In The Mirror', 'Killing In The Name', 'Iris', any others? This must be the oldest anyhow.

It's highly doubtful this will be #1 next week but I'm rooting for it as it'd be a nice piece of chart history (I don't mind the song either although it's not exactly a favourite - my dad loves it though :P)

The Kworb update must have been an error. LivePopBars has The Script at 0.75 now. Will be very interesting to see where YNWA charts this week, it could have already done enough for top 10 I reckon!

You had to look up What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted? That's one of the most beautiful songs of all time, true R&B soul before it lost it's meaning.

Anyway yay I guess for Gerry & The Pacemakers, it is for a good cause. But now's about the time to start the campaign to get Gangnam Style to #1 :kink:

No, I had to look up 'You'll Never Walk Alone' by Robson & Jerome to find that it was associated with 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted'.

I vaguely recall that track reaching no.1 (as the lead track on that silly triple A-side) but for obvious reasons my mind has tried to blank out Robson & Jerome tracks. There is no reason why I would remember that YNWA was part of that.

Is Gangnam Style being played anywhere on TV? I know its been played by radio a tad. Seems odd how its already itunes #1 in alot of Europe plus USA/Canada/New Zealand and Australia and isn't even top 20 here. It could see it taking off majorily once TV music stations take it up, I wouldn't even rule out #1 during October at some point either.

Its ridiculous just a bunch of sheeple following the crowd, though i suppose buying an 89p track and saying you've donated to charity it certainly alot easier and cheaper than having to donate anymore...imagine it you did just donate 89p hardly worthwhile...urgh horrid
Surprised to see Public Enemy still at #20 on itunes! It's holding up well despite the Paralympics being over :D

1 Gerry & The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone 1.0000

2 The Script - Hall of Fame 0.7500 0.9875

Example lost :( I cant believe it!

No Example's not out till tomorrow. The one good thing is that the Vodaphone Charts, which is based on iTunes, may declare You'll Never Walk Alone No.1 on that chart alone tomorrow. Offically, it will be top 30.

I do agree to an extent with this, it's just horrible to begrudge a charity money and for that I'm not too annoyed to see it at #1 right now but there must be some people downloading it just to give the money, in which case they could just donate without buying the song if they cared that much?

But yeah it's for charity and the money's going to a great cause so I'll let it slide, it's not like those stupid FB campaigns just to dethrone another track (e.g. the RATM campaign).

'I Cry' seems to have stalled a bit then, should still be top 10 for a long time to come though.

The Script now down to 0.7.

Oh, OK. I obviously was referring to the original Motown version by Jimmy Ruffin

Not that I know of, but I don't really watch the music channels, it needs to be featured on a really big show for it to take off I think, would love to see the X Factor boot camp perform it  To be fair though, the UK has always had the most Xenophobic music industry in the world.
