October 7, 201213 yr It's a flop by their standards and frankly everyone besides you can see that. If they can stick around for ages then yes, it will have worked out in the end but as of right now it's certainly a disappointment. During this entire release you've been making positive post after positive post about 1D and it would be nice to see some realism for once. Well I apologise for being optimistic about a band I love.
October 7, 201213 yr Well I apologise for being optimistic about a band I love. With you on that! Hanson's last album totally did not flop, no matter what you deluded loons say!
October 7, 201213 yr Well I apologise for being optimistic about a band I love. Just ignore them. I'm finding it very uncomfortable to see people picking on you like this if I'm honest. I hope one of the moderators can control things.
October 7, 201213 yr Ofcourse #3 is great! However not for a song which EVERYONE expected to go to #1, even the boys themselves and everyone involved with them would of been expecting #1 for this. It should still have big sales anyway, and i'm sure the album will go to #1. Amazing for Adele, she has to be #1 next week. Rihanna - well done. Held off three huge songs without a video and OA/OS, the power of Ri! Edited October 7, 201213 yr by Karma

October 7, 201213 yr With you on that! Hanson's last album totally did not flop, no matter what you deluded loons say! And that is relevant how?... (for the record, I only just know who Hanson are, I don't like as many boybands as you seem to make out...)
October 7, 201213 yr And that is relevant how?... (for the record, I only just know who Hanson are, I don't like as many boybands as you seem to make out...) I didn't accuse you of being a Hanson fan. I am a Hanson fan.

Yeah, exactly. I thought it would go to #1 aswell, but I hardly think what they've accomplished first-week with this song is a disappointment. I can't believe some people are so nasty and vicious that they want to see people upset about this (a chart position). And because they've seen a One Direction fan who isn't upset about this, ruining their illusions and hopes that One Direction and their fans are devastated by them not getting #1, that they're instead attacking the fan and telling him that he "must" be upset, so they can delude themselves into believing their own little fantasy that One Direction and their fans are in mourning right now.
October 7, 201213 yr I'm sure One Direction will be able to get over the fact they are #3 in the UK, since they'll probably rack up 1 million+ worldwide sales for this single, especially if it's a success in the US! :P

No one wants anyone to be 'upset', just a little more realistic. Karma puts it perfectly: whereas 3 is good, not being no.1 IS a disappointment for the group especially after the hype.
October 7, 201213 yr Well I apologise for being optimistic about a band I love. There is realistic optimism and unrealistic optimism. Realistic optimism was applicable only to the very start of the week. After that it got silly. Saying "don't forget the pre-orders ;)" ad nauseam when Rihanna was pulling away with ease was not realistic optimism. No one wants anyone to be 'upset', just a little more realistic. Karma puts it perfectly: whereas 3 is good, not being no.1 IS a disappointment for the group especially after the hype. Thank you. I don't want him to scream about how sad he is, I would just like him to accept that #3 is a bit shit for them, which it is. I'm quite capable of accepting when my own faves flop, it annoys me to see deluded people pretending flops don't happen to their faves. Especially as it tends to be the same people who would turn around and call songs by "rival" artists (such as JLS, maybe?) flops. Edited October 7, 201213 yr by Umi

Pink got no.1 on itunes and then ended at 3. 3 was good, but I'd hoped for better. 4 weeks down the line and she's out of the top 20. I am disappointed at this.
October 7, 201213 yr Rihanna looking like she is the one person who can catch Madonna in terms of UK number 1 hits! I believe she is on 7 now if you include 'Run This Town'.
October 7, 201213 yr Rihanna looking like she is the one person who can catch Madonna in terms of UK number 1 hits! I believe she is on 7 now if you include 'Run This Town'. She has equalled Kylie's count now. Although I hate including Run This Town. It's awful and forgettable. To be honest I often prefer Rihanna songs that didn't make no.1.
October 7, 201213 yr She has equalled Kylie's count now. Oh my, she has! :o And Rihanna will easily overtake by the time Kylie has her next Top 10! Unfortunately. :(

Pink got no.1 on itunes and then ended at 3. 3 was good, but I'd hoped for better. 4 weeks down the line and she's out of the top 20. I am disappointed at this. I'm also capable of admitting when songs I like flop (there's hundreds of examples on this forum). Yesterday I posted this about Wiley/Roll Deep: The group still exists (and have been around for a decade), and he didn't have a verse on Take Control iirc, which might be WHY it flopped. I think it'll chart top 40, because it hasn't been playlisted by Capital, but I hope it goes to #1. So there, you have me saying Take Control flopped. I can admit when a song underperforms/flops. This One Direction song is NOT a flop. I "hope" Wiley's next single will get to #1, but I'm only EXPECTING top 40. When Wiley's next single charts at #35, I don't want anybody telling me I'm disappointed/deluded, etc. Of course I HOPE it goes #1, but I'm going to be over the moon if it goes top 20, and happy with top 40. Sorry guys, but it's perfectly feasible to me that a One Direction fan is happy and content with them getting #3.
October 7, 201213 yr At the end of the day whether One Direction are at #1, #3 or #1003 they are getting so much P's into their bank accounts that they most likely won't be overly upset about a chart position.
