Who's saying that? Oh, nobody. That's awkward.

If you have a song which debuts in the top 5, and is then out of the top 75 a couple of weeks later, that. is. flopping.

You are! You said it like a couple of posts before!

But it's not out of the Top 75 is it? It hasn't even officially charted yet!

Which incidentally JLS have never done.

...let's not get nit picky over ONE chart position, please

A CHARITY SINGLE by JLS debuting at NUMBER 6, and then FALLING OUT OF THE TOP 75 a couple of weeks later = flopping. Flopping HARD.

"Now with the disaster of the current single...ugh, they just need to go away."

Notice "NOW with..." - me saying they need to go away after I've talked about other reasons why I think they need to take their long, overdue leave.

And I wasn't talking about their current floppy single, I'm talking about their past floppy singles

When has anybody denied that? :P I don't think even Eric would defend 'Proud'.

I don't know why he would defend them full stop, but whatever turns you on I guess

I think it's fair to say that if you have a song debut in the top regions of the chart, but drops fairly quickly after that - you've appealed mainly to your fans, and less to the general public.

If a song debuts fairly low and can work it's way up or consistantly sell, then it's connecting with the general public but taking a long time to get there = a sleeper hit.

A song can sell a million copies in it's first week and none in the 2nd, that would still be called a success.

The problem JLS have is that single sales have grown in general and continue to grow. Their biggest selling single is their debut.

What is worrying is that their recent singles have had total sales that would equal a major hit back in 2005, but are far below the numbers we are used to seeing today (and I dread to think of the album numbers!!)

JLS could turn it around, all it takes is that one song, but so far, by the looks of things Hottest Girl is not it.

Are you going to stop with these bizarre assumptions? They're highly obnoxious  I think JLS should go away because they make absolutely appalling music, not because the GP don't give a shit about them anymore, and not because they do really poorly in the charts.

Why are you bringing up the reasons why a song falls down the chart? I'm well aware, thanks  All I was saying is they don't make memorable music which sticks around; they make weak music which doesn't really sell and which is forgotten within a month. -shrug-

Why do you keep asking me these questions? You say JLS's songs don't sell well, so I bring up their year-end positions to show that they do, and then ask me why I brought up their year-end positions.

Now you say JLS's songs fall down the charts fast, which you say means that they're not memorable. I list other reasons why songs that a memorable can still fall down the charts fast, and then you ask me why I've listed reasons why songs fall down the chart.

Now that you've admitted that you don't like JLS's songs, then it's undestandable why you want them to go away. Thing is, JLS don't need to quit. It doesn't have to be the end for them. You can say it's the end for them as many times as you want, it doesn't make it true.

I don't know why he would defend them full stop, but whatever turns you on I guess

I meant defending it as a chart success for the record.

This argument is so so tedious. Yes JLS are underperforming by their standards but it doesn't mean they should go away, it's not all about chart positions and sales you know! It seems like you just wanted to start an argument so you could rant about how terrible they were.

Wow I never knew Lady Gaga (assuming it's the real deal) hated JLS so much.

Seriously, I don't know why the topic is still going. Someone hates JLS, most people are indifferent to them. Move on.

I fail to see how JLS make APPALLING music. By most boyband standards, they're music is pretty decent. Only The Club Is Alive is absolutely dreadful.

On a tediously linked note, I'm pretty happy Maroon 5 didn't quite when they started flopping because then they'd have missed out on massive success.

I don't know why he would defend them full stop, but whatever turns you on I guess

Because not everyone has the same opinion as you with regards to their music?

Your hysterical spouting of poorly aimed drivel isn't making you look intelligent, and it's negating any point you may have had. Yes, JLS aren't doing as well as they used to. That doesn't make them the exception, most pop acts do. In terms of reality acts they've actually had a fairly long and successful career, which you're clearly incapable of recognising.

Roll on Saturday night, closing this thread might finally shut you up.

But AS I'VE TOLD YOU, bringing up YTD lists = totally and utterly irrelevant. Instead of lists, give me actual sales and then we can talk, HENCE WHY I ASK YOU THE QUESTIONS because your brain doesn't seem to be processing what I'm actually attempting to drum into your head

You harped on about the reasons why songs fall down the charts fast BEFORE I went on about them not being memorable. Are you trolling right now?!?!

"JLS don't need to quit" IS YOUR OPINION  I can say it's the end for them based on their past few singles + current underperforming single/blatant lack of interest from the GP. Again, MY OPINION.

Well, more than anything Lady Gaga's comments show that he/she/it is unable to make a point objectively, seeing as after it all, she's pointed out she just thinks they should give up because they make shit music. Which is of course completely opinion based, and makes the fact he/she/it has let the argument go on for as long as it has, quite simply baffling.

Hottest Girl In The World, sadly (in my opinion, just putting that out there), isn't doing very well, and looks like it might become their lowest peaker. This isn't promising for them, I agree, but I think it only takes a really really good song from them, and they could be back in it.

Here's another opinion; I don't like JLS or their new song but it's far from their worst when they have 'Love You More' 'Proud' 'Take A Chance On Me' etc. I did used to like them back when they did songs like One Shot, Beat Again and Eyes Wide Shut - which is more than I can say for Wanted and 1D (I only actively liked Chasing The Sun from them and I am yet to like a 1D song) I do think HGITW needs to flop to send the message to JLS that they need to make a good song if they want relevance and longevity. ;)

You're a Moderator with an attitude like THAT? Oh dear. Awkward.

"Poorly aimed drivel"...um, I'm providing my thoughts on why I think JLS are basically over (poor chart sales, lack of GP interest), so how THAT is "poorly aimed drivel" is beyond me, but...yeah, okay then.

Fast forward 2014 you be the saying the same thing about One Direction  that's because JLS hit a blip.

Normally I would agree, but JLS are a boyband geared around selling. Their music isn't something that is done out of passion or a want to improve as musicians imo. Tori Amos doesn't sell like she used to but her last 3 albums have been a winter album her parents have wanted her to make, a 21st century song cycle and an album working with an orchestra so she could tour with them, new things that push her musically. Now I might be judging JLS harshly but I don't think they make music for those reasons but make it to sell, so if their primary reason for making and releasing music is failing, then maybe this may well be their last album.

What are you talking about?  I think they should give up because they make dreadful music, but I've also provided other reasons why I think it's time they called it a day.

Hopefully HGITW will at least chart higher than Do You Feel What I Feel? Although I can see it peaking lower than Proud at this stage, since it's #8 on iTunes and it's only Thursday. :drama:
