January 4, 201312 yr Didn't expect that :o Odd for the Brits and this to be so out of sync! I do like what I've heard from them so far though so good luck to them.
January 4, 201312 yr And the #1 in the BBC Sound Of 2013 is... HAIM :o :w00t: :yahoo:  Ooh, I feel quite embarrassed now. :( Heard them yesterday... just OK, nothing more...
January 4, 201312 yr Well I'm very happy to be proven wrong. Haim are a great winner. Hope they can actually be big.
January 4, 201312 yr Haim are infinitely better than that boring fart Odell. Well done Odell although I really see this as another worthless industry prize.
January 4, 201312 yr I'm happy Haim have won. What I've heard by them, has been very good so far and they've produced the best material I've heard out of the 'Sound Of' contenders that I've heard so far! Edited January 4, 201312 yr by Juran Juran
January 4, 201312 yr I agree that Haim are a bit of an odd choice of winner in that their sound doesn't really fit in with previous winners. However, I love Don't Save Me so I'm happy they won!
January 4, 201312 yr To be honest I didn't expect that I really thought Tom Odell was going to win it after his Critics Award. So yeah... I'm happy with Haim winning it
January 4, 201312 yr Hopefully "Don't Save Me" can become a minor hit now, I'm really liking it at the moment.
January 4, 201312 yr Really didn't expect to see Haim win the poll - though I thought they'd attain a place lower in the T5 originally. A big fan of both Odell and Haim, so I'm chuffed that each were crowned winners of different prizes - so I doubt Odell will be bothered at not reaching the T5 for this. I worry that Haim won't necessarily set the chart alight - but R1 have been giving "Don't Save Me" decent support, and this 'return of the guitar bands' has to start somewhere; so why not here. The album is sure to be a big seller anyway; can't wait!
January 4, 201312 yr Wown, I was so wrong, never thought they could win ! They're ok but I haven't heard anything mindblowing yet. Maybe they wanted to go with an act that is easy to listen and be played on radios a lot.
January 4, 201312 yr After the disaster of Michael Kiwanuka winning the BBC Sound of 2012 poll, maybe the judges here just thought Tom Odell would most likely end up going the same way. Haim's track is already top 30 on iTunes although I've seen the music video a couple of times this week so now that they've won, 'Don't Save Me' will probably keep climbing. Whether it can do a "Do It Like A Dude" is left to be seen. I worry that Haim won't necessarily set the chart alight - but R1 have been giving "Don't Save Me" decent support, and this 'return of the guitar bands' has to start somewhere; so why not here. The album is sure to be a big seller anyway; can't wait! If any band is going to boost this "'return of the guitar bands", surely that'll be Imagine Dragons?
January 4, 201312 yr Ooh. Haim are a shocking (but good!) winner! I really like 'Don't Save Me' and hope it can at least become a minor hit. I do think Imagine Dragons will be the breakout guitar band this year though, but as they weren't considered (I'm assuming it was down to a similar reason Radio 1 only had GaGa at #6 in 2009's poll - in that she'd be big either way), Haim are a very good winner. Much better than Tom Odull. TIRREN FIX. CMEfwYhk-D8 all down to this~That remix is lovely!
January 4, 201312 yr A shock, but a fantastic winner! :o I'd have been happy for either Haim or Tom Odell to win - from the two tracks I've heard of each, they both sound like promising stars, but it's nice to see a different type of act win this poll for once. Both will be huge either way - I think the BBC got 2nd and 3rd wrong, but you can't have everything! I do wish they'd start revealing the whole longlist in order again though!
January 4, 201312 yr I doubt Haim's ability to produce a massive single but hopefully their album should at least do well. I'm still expecting Imagine Dragons to be the big guitar breakout of the year, not finishing top five in this may have harmed Palma Violets' chances though unfortunately.
January 4, 201312 yr They should both have been in the top 5 but Tom should have walked it. He's going to be this year's Emeli Sande.
January 4, 201312 yr They should both have been in the top 5 but Tom should have walked it. He's going to be this year's Emeli Sande. It would be funny if he was - going from an Adele to another Adele to an Odell.
