Thanks guys for the weekly chat :D

See you next week and congrats to Olly and GA! :cheer:

At least Something New didn't do a Something Kinda Ooooh/Call The Shots and slump to No.3 by Sunday. Their first official #2 since Love Machine in 2004 :o I know it's being labelled as a flop because of the way it has fallen on iTunes but its pretty impressive for a girlband to still be commanding top two singles a decade into their career, no? Are there any other girlbands/female groups with a ten year span between top three hits?

I don't think at this stage that Something New will end up as big as Something Kinda Ooooh or Call the Shots though.

You're right though. Something New isn't a flop. I feel people had too high expectations for it or are being a bit too dramatic.

Two songs named "Troublemaker" in the top 3 in 2012.

And a stunning difference in quality between them.

Glad Olly's number 1, I didn't think he could best Heart Skips a Beat but he almost has!

I do agree that the chorus of this Girls Aloud song is good, but everything else is horribly disjointed. I think this will be a bit of a flash in the pan really.

It's been FAR too long since I've heard Girls Aloud on the radio between 6.45 and 7 on a Sunday evening on Radio 1
Thanks, the chart show thread team again for another good thread.

I almost had a fit when I listened to Something New.

One of the best #2s for a long time!

Well done to Olly as well, I quite like Troublemaker, so I'm not too bothered that Something New isn't #1! :D

Olly's success is insane. :o

Did ANYONE predict he'd had four #1's (two being Platinum), two double platinum albums and even a Billboard Hot 100 hit when he was singing 'Superstition' on X-Factor against Joe McElderry?

Brilliant Top 2, brilliant Top 10 in fact if you forget One D.

Troublemaker is very Maroon 5 sounding, but it's nevertheless fantastic!

Very happy with this !

5th single peaking at #2, now all they need is the next single to peak at #8 and that'll make their chart run in the top10 complete :kink:

WOOP g'wan Olly! 121,000 shifted as well, that's HUGE! Big well done to Girls Aloud too :)

So if it wasn't for the CD and Vinyl Girls Aloud would have been at #4 this week.

It's a shame Rudimental couldn't get into the top 10.
