I'm no Britney stan but James Arthur needs to bugger off quickly, hopefully Scream & Shout can get there eventually rather than being another mammoth #2 collaboration between a late 90s pop idol and a judge from The Voice! Looks like another week for James as it currently stands...
Or a sign that shops have overstocked & can't get rid of them? :P

Pop B!tch works in a HMV, so would surely know if that was the case... :P

I would only be up for 'Try' ruining Pink's top 13 peak achievement if it repeaks in the top 5 and hangs around for such a long time. If it just repeaks at #7 and then falls again, I'll be pissed.
Nice to see Calvin Harris and Jake Bugg further up the iTunes chart, got to agree with Gooddelta, James Arthur needs to bugger off, but for a chart perspective point of view, I would prefer it to hang on for another week at least, so there won't be a load of weekly #1s, 2011 was awful for #1s 36 in total, 4 short from the total of year 2000

Since when it's so high?!?!

16 Calvin Harris - Drinking from the Bottle (feat. Tinie T...

It was top 40 2 days ago...

BTW - Next week is still a weak week... nothing to be in the top 20 or something so maybe next week S&S can do it?

Does January even have any potential #1 releases?

Maybe there will be a shock #1 taking advantage of low sales. I'd love for Amelia to do it with 'Shut Up' but I'm sceptical it will even go top 5/10.

Amelia is probably the closest thing to a #1 contender released in January. Vato Gonzalez should be the highest/only (:() new entry next week, hopefully a second top 10 hit for him as the view count on YouTube seems pretty high and he has R1 support but on the other hand the EP pre-order is only #1061 which is probably too low for a top 10. Bingo Players' EP (20 Jan, the same day as Amelia) is doing better @ #345 but still probably nowhere near a #1. Really a very bleak start to the year, the first song on the New Release Schedule that really strikes me as a 'likely' #1 is Gabrielle Aplin and this song is even worse than 'The Power Of Love' :(

Definitely looking like will.i.am will dominate January, maybe Taylor Swift/Rihanna/Calvin Harris could work their way up there as well. With so few releases PSY seems almost certain to at least match Gotye's top 10 run if not beat it.

Amelia Lily has a single out in a couple of weeks... and I guess Conor Maynard releasing a new version of Animal.

But looking at the release schedule there's not alot coming out

I;ve heard rumours of a Beyonce and Lady Gaga release in January so they may shake things up a bit

If its like Videophone then I doubt it will be a success :D

I hope the #1's go something like this for January:

06/01/13: James Arthur - Impossible

13/01/13: Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

20/01/13: Rihanna - Stay (won't happen though unless a video comes out very soon)

27/01/13: Amelia Lily - Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got)

If it peaks higher, why would that a problem?

Of course I'd love for Try to do as well as possible-but it took so long for her to get that no.8 peaking single and it looks great on her chart statistics!

Lightning Bolt was performed on Jools Holland right after the New Year programme had finished on BBC 1, maybe that's why it has climbed if a lot of people watched.

Another Love is being uses on a BBC advert, too.

I'm still surprised that more labels don't take advantage at this time of year. There's several big/future international hits that could have been big contenders in January. I am also surprised that Thrift Shop doesn't have a impact date yet. They appear that they won't be out until Feb/March time.

I've heard Beyonce has got a song out though I think Gaga is out in the spring? Also, doesnt Nicole Scherzinger have a new song out in the next week or so?

C'mon Let Me Ride by Skylar Grey could be a MASSIVE #1 when it's out but I haven't even heard it on radio or TV yet and it's not even on the release sched now so it might be a case of either left too late or just it slips totally under the radar and peaks at #173 or something (just like poor brave Eva Simons with Silly Boy :().

I agree I think the only potential #1s on the release schedule with a set date are Gabrielle Aplin (love that song!) and Amelia Lily, but the latter will be such a non #1 if it does get there! I'd love Animal by Conor Maynard to do it but it'll probably peak at about #7 at best. I'd love What About Us by The Saturdays to manage on a quiet week, but it's not out til March apparently and what's betting it's then the same week as bloody One Direction and their sure to be blasphemous cover of One Way Or Another :drama: Not that The Sats would get #1 anyway!

I expect Nicole to be big if she doesn't do OA/OS (ie premiere it now and release in February would be good) too.

I think its just a case that C'Mon let me ride simply doesn't have an impact/release date yet, it'll be massive when it does get released. To be fair it hasn't been a hit anywhere yet (not even in the US). I'd be shocked it doesn't do anything though (especially with Eminem involved). I can see Thrift Shop or something blowing up we don't know about yet and stopping Gabrielle to be honest. Its certainly the quietest January I can remember for a while too.

Have I missed the reason for Pink climbing so much with 'Try'?

I wish C'mon (Let Me Ride) (Skylar Grey) and Brand New Me (Alicia Keys) would put themselves on the release schedule now and make the most from this quiet period.

I can't see 'Animal' or 'Shut Up' going to #1 unfortunately, it will just end up being S&S and Impossible with maybe I Knew You Were Trouble. and Stay possibly just managing it.

Hmm you're probably right! I thought it was meant to be out in January but if it's going to left til March/April then I guess the airplay won't start until probably next month. I forgot Thrift Shop, that'll obviously be huge.

She was on Graham Norton on Monday, I didn't watch but I assume she performed and that's why it's climbing?
