Ugh, just listened to Harlem Shake.... How AWFUL can a song get?! It's amazing how people can be like sheep and buy anything related to any 'craze'.

To think Little Mix were briefly #10 as well. I'm pinning the blame solely on Harlem Shake for CYL being cruelly denied again! :(

'Wow, people can have different opinions? That can't be right'.

:P

Gwon Baauer :cheer:

"Daylight" sounds like a rejected Norsk Melodi Grand Prix/Mello semi final song. Not good......be lucky to make top 40.

Don't be silly. It's a Maroon 5 single, so it'll be #1 on airplay for weeks on end and be guaranteed top 10.

Still wishing that rule was in force 3 years ago when Maroon 5's music was better. Still love Daylight though, probably this era's best single.

I agree with this statement. Daylight sounds very different from their other material as well, which might be the reason why I like it so much. ^_^

I only heard a live version of Daylight so far, and it sounds to me better than Payphone but worse than One More Night. I think it'll probably go top 10.

I think 2013 has been off to a good start so far. So many surprise hits (both in the sense that you wouldn't expect it and they also are weird/non-pop/don't sound like chart hits) already and we're only halfway through Ferbruary.

Agreed - David Bowie, 50 Cent, Dizzee Rascal, Disclosure/AlunaGeorge, Fall Out Boy, Baauer, Foals (if that counts as a hit), even Macklemore to an extent even though it was obvious that'd smash.

Are you serious? My Life was not a surprise hit in any context! And I'd say that White Noise is debatable...

50 Cent was referring to the second part of Eric's post. And Disclosure wasn't a shock HIT per se, just a shock that it got as high as #2.

How is My Life weird or doesn't sound like a chart hit? There's a pop verse in the chorus as well...

If "My Life" is weird then "Suit & Tie" is as well.

Exactly, that's what I was thinking as well.

I guess  Me and my usual overreaction, but it is terrible in my opinion.

 7. Baauer - Harlem Shake

 8. Emeli Sande - Clown

:left: 9. Dizzee Rascal - Bassline Junkie

 10. Bingo Players feat Far East Movement - Get Up (Rattle)

Am I alone that I have never heard of Frank Ocean. Apart from him coming out I know none of his songs!

Listen to some of them! Listen to Pyramids and Thinkin Bout You in particular, those two songs will change your life.

My favourite Frank Ocean song is 'There Will Be Tears'. Such a great song! But he's a good artist. He knows what sound he wants to go for and I like that he doesn't seem to want to change that just to be more successful or whatever.
